war

I changed my mind. I'll take which ever handgun is most likely to be found inside an armored vehicle, Heli gunship or that AC130 Specter gunship.

XD .40, 16 + 1, I like
It is reliable, simple & I can hit wha I am aiming at
2nd choice would be a pair of 1911 operators

This thread would make a great rifle thread, AK for me, 80 extra mags, not that anybody asked

Glock 23

Plenty of firepower, capacity, reliability, etc....

A handful of 13rd mags and another handful of 28rd mags and off we go!

OK...I originally posted a vote for my SIG P226. Then I got a bit frustrated at how seriously some people were taking this; what I considered to be a "chat point", so I edited out my post. Apparently, though, some are now actually "being there, doing that", and that would tend to make you a bit serious about the subject.
My respect and appreciation to you guys. But I took this picture in a deliberately stupid response to another post. Seems appropriately inappropriate. My "take to war" handgun: :D

As a realistic choice and not wish fulfillment, it's got to be a 1911. Proven stopping power, almost a 100 year old design...and I am a revolver guy. Don't like 9mm if my life is on the line.

for 15 years my Issued load was an M16A2 with a M203 Grenade Launcher attached and a 1911 .45. What worked then will work now. Unfortunatly the last years I had to carry the M9 instead of the 45 because the nato pansies couldn't handle the .45

With all do respect to you, can you elaborate on that? And did it effect your survivability?

And do you really think it would have made a deference?

I'm just trying to rub ya!:D

I'd like to take the 1911 for its trigger and the 45 acp but would like a little more than 8+1 capacity if I were in war.

A reliable 1911 with 12+1 capacity would be the ideal combat sidearm in my mind.
