Gimme Glocks

9x19 and lots of 'em :D

9x19 should be available everywhere in that situation :D (hopefully) Otherwise, I would want what I can get ammo for ;)

The need is there.

I'm serving right now. As the military is acting in mostly an advisory role in Iraq, there are times when your m4 may not be at your side, or being mounted in a vehicle restricts your use of the m4 while your door is open. There are a lot of meetings where keeping your m4 at the ready offends the the people you are trying to coordinate with. I know, you're thinking screw them, "it's my life at stake", but the reality is we're having to comform. Seems like complacency, kind of, but it's not.

I'm fine with the M9, but a 1911 would make me feel a whole lot better. It's like your PD weapon. You could go your whole life without having to pull it, but it's that one time you're glad you have it.

I just want to say that I appreciate everything you all are doing, everyone who is serving, I'm sure we all do. I can't imagine what It would be like to be away from my family, half a world away, not knowing what I was going to encounter on a daily basis...Anyway, Thank you all. And tmd11111 - No apologies needed. If I hadn't seen my family in 10 months, any post I left probably would have been a lot worse, not to say your post was bad - well, you know what I mean!

Take care everyone,

James

I voted CZ but my first choice would be a BHP. Second CZ.
Basically on the assumption that parts for these pistols could be found nearly every continent on earth. And I guess in war guns get used a lot...

All the best...

I took a 5 shot S&W alu framed .38spl.
Only needed it for the flair rnds.
If I was on the ground in Indian country, a handgun was no good except for signaling or to shoot myself.

It would depend on what my role was; if I was a rifleman in infantry, I'd want something more light and compact since it would not be a primary weapon and function like a backup. Glock 19/26 comes to mind for me personally in that role.

If I was a 'traditional' commissioned officer or in another function where the handgun was the primary personal weapon, I'd want a big gun in a big caliber like a 1911 or some sort of high capacity double stack .45 like a G21 or XD45.

war

Who am I fighting and how are they armed or armored?
If they have body armor a FiveseveN with armor defeating and normal rounds.

If they have normal clothing/uniforms an FNP .45

Sig P226 9mm ;)

Your odds of getting ammo and parts is better if you take the same handgun the US Army is using. That is if you're fighting with the US Army.

I agree with buzzcook, if its today, M9, if it was yester year 1911a1, if it was in the streets of the US. Glock or M&P whatever model the local pd carries. But if I didn't know what was previously stated, it would still be a 1911, G21sf or an M&P9. The one thing is that I shoot and know each one of these guns very well. But I would also consider a breachers pistol grip shotgun, depends how much gear I have. I carried an M4, an M9 and a Mossberg 590A1 with five shots of frangible rounds.

Hands down Glock 21. I don't even have one (have a G30) but that is the one to have. 13+1 of .45ACP with Glock reliability is hard to beat in a sidearm in my opinion.
