What was your first handgun?

S & W Model 19 (Nickel, 6" barrel, rosewood grips) - circa 1970....

Had to send it back because it was out of time on one cylinder. So much for the "good old days".

Springfield XD Tactical in .45ACP. My buddy liked it so much that he bought his own. I just put a 1903 Colt into the safe, no I need to look at a revolver.

smith and wesson 3914.

in 1990 i could not afford $550 for a police trade in walther p5, so i settled for the then new 3914.

S & W Mod 39, no dash. Loved it but had to let it go for needed cash years ago. Got back into the game big time, now carry Detonics Combat Master

The Walther PPK .32 that I inherited. Still my only gun, although that will change this year. I have put more rounds through my son's Buckmark.

first

The memory makes me smile.
My first "handgun" wasn't a firearm; it was a BB pistol. I bought it fifty years ago and still have it. It's one of those old "tip up front" smoothbore Marksman BB guns that were designed to look kinda like a 1911.
I bought it, brought it home, took it into the basement, filled a cardboard carton full of newspapers. loaded the gun with BBs, cocked it, extended my arm and shot at the box. The box was, maybe, five feet away. I missed. Shot again. Missed. Shot the whole load - don't remember hitting the box at all.
My first "real" pistol was a Ruger MkII Gov't. The second was a T/C Contender. The third was a Gold Cup.

darkgael, I just dug that same Marksman BB gun out of some old boxes I had in my basement! The mechanism is busted (has been for 25 years), and the grip is wrapped in hockey tape. It is about as accurate in it's current condition as it was when it worked. I think I might pick a new one up and get some darts and a dartboard for the basement.:)

My first handgun was a H&R Model 676 Convertible with a 7 1/2" barrel. The trigger on the thing was so herendous that over time it caused such a mussle build up in my right fore finger that it would not fit in the trigger gaurd any longer. I traded it in on a Ruger Single Six.

RG single action .22 way back when I was about 13 or 14 years old. Ejector rod broke shortly after I got it and had to use a stick to poke out the empty casings. A real POS but fun for a young boy who worshiped the ground that John Wayne walked on!

Colt Frontier Scout .22 SA revolver, about 1967 or so. Still have it too.
It's the bottom one in this pic. The middle one belonged to my dad, and the top one is a 1964 Montana Diamond Jubilee commemorative complete with its exorbitant $75 price tag still attached.
