What was your first handgun?

S&W Model 60-10. I also have half ownership in a Mossberg 500 shotgun. Those are the only guns I own, and I rather doubt I'll be getting more; I carry for self defense, not hunting and not sport. (My husband, on the other hand, plans to build an arsenal when he can afford it, purely for the fun of owning and shooting lots of guns.) ;-)

My first hand gun was givent to me at the age of 12 on my birthday. Grampa was a collector, and good at tweaking old milsurp guns that were parts guns. He built me a sweet custom 1911 with a ramped, and ported barrel, refinished in China White, with engraving inlaid in gold, with black walnut grips inlaid with turquoise, and black onyx. Also it has some custom target sights that are very easy to aquire target quickly with, and it is still a tack driving favorite for me 21 years later.
It now resides in a safe at dad's house. It will never be sold, or traded for.

My first was a brand new 357 Astra that I bought for $75.00 in 1976. My dad took me to a grand opening of a sporting goods store and they had 8 357's and 8 38's. It was a mad dash to the gun counter when they opened the door in the morning and you got whatever they threw up on the counter. I happened to grab a 357 and took it back to my dad to purchase. It was a great day and I still shoot that gun today.

My Dad's guns

First handgun I used? My Dad's handguns, .22s .357 S&W M28, Colt 1911 .45
First one I bought for my own? Browning BDA .45 (several years later). I still have it, and use it, 30 years later.
It also has a lot of company, now. :D

Hi-point 9mm. :)
I had a few pellet pistols before that.
But since then, I've landed many quality firearms...lol

Never sell your first gun.

This should be rephrased to say "Never sell your first gun if it's not a complete POS". :D:D

But hey, maybe in 30yrs hi-points will be worth thousands? And I'll look back and regret getting rid of it?? lol..

A 1922 Browning .32 that I bought from the old Donnin's Arms Museum in North Miami. I paid some guy who was 21 to buy it for me. (This was in 1963--LOL)

My first was Colt Combat Commander in 45ACP. My second handgun was a Colt Python, blued 6". I've always had a thing for Colts.

1985, Houston, TX. Carter's Country - $185 for a 6.5" Ruger Blackhawk .41 Magnum which began my love affair with the .41

Wow... I'm surprised that I've only seen 2 or 3 Hi-Points out of 7 pages of posts!

My first was a second-hand Hi-Point that I got 9 years ago. I still have it, though it's in need of a "tune up". Pretty reliable for the first 6 or 7 years though!

The follow up to that was my SA Mil-Spec! I love that thing! And what a difference!! Also bought an XD-sub 9. The Hi-Point is mostly a door stop/paperweight now.
