First handgun was an S&W M-19 .357 with a 4" barrel given to me by my Dad on my 18th birhtday. That gun has since reverted back to my father's ownership.
The first handgun I bought after my 21st birthday was an EAA Witness Compact P in 9mm. Bought for $275 and sold for $325 2 years later. Still the biggest mistake of my life as a hundgun owner was selling that little 9, probably the best all around carry gun I've owned to this day.
Alot of you have had nice firsts. Mine was a RG-22. Bought it for $20 bucks, and the second time I shot it, the hand broke. I fired a few more shots later on, turning the cylinder by hand ( dumb...dont try this at home). Later that year, I upgraded my armory with a NIB High Point .40.
It was an old J C Higgins .22 9 shot revolver that I believe came from Sears. I was 10 years old at the time my dad gave it to me and it was the greatest thing in the world to me. I carried that pistol many a mile. It is still one of my prized treasures.....funny how no matter how much I spend on a new gun it's never the same feeling as holding that old cheap pistol.
Wow a lot of centerfires. I took the traditional route, a Ruger MKIII stainless 5.5 bull. I still have it and I put thumbrest grips on it from a MKII. A great gun and an even better gun to learn with.
After a summer of grass cutting and baling hay; early 80's 8" Colt Python in the Colt Royal Blue. Never ever found a sweeter gun. Not sure what I was thinking when I traded it off.
My first handgun was a High Standard Sentinel (9-shot .22 revolver) with a 6" barrel, bought around 1963 when I was in high school in Baltimore County, MD.
Colt Python, 6" blue, purchased as a brand new 2LT in Fayetteville NC in 1980! Unfortunatley, that one is long gone, a I picked up a replacement of the same vintage a few years back.
A Herter's single action .357 with 6 inch barrel. Bought it in 1972 for $50 or $60 new. I still have it. In the old Herter's catalog everything was "the worlds greatest".
