What was your first handgun?

Glock 23. First firearm ever. I was 27yrs old and had ZERO experience with guns.

2yrs and a dozen or so firearms later... I figure I'm making up for lost time :D

Glock 33.... almost a whole year ago.:):o

When I was 12yrs old Dad took me and every penny I had saved to the gunshop and we walked out with a stainless Virginian .22 convertible single action revolver (Uberti-made for Interarms). This was the beginning of my fascination with handguns in general and the single action revolver in particular. By the time I was old enough to buy them for myself I already had several in my toolbox and had been shooting in bowling pin matches with my Redhawk .44 for a few years.

686 6". I've since concentrated on buying and shooting revolvers with shorter barrels but I still pull out the 686 every few weeks when I want to practice shooting at a distance. It's the most accurate handgun I own, by far.

My first handgun was a Taurus .38 revolver in stainless with a 4 inch barrel. I do not remember the model number. I bought that around 1992 when I was a prison guard in Delaware. I sold it a few years later and did not buy another handgun until 2006 when I purchased my XD40.

H & R .22 nine shot w/2" barrel. The only thing it would shoot half way accurately was CCI Stingers. At least that load would hit a coffee can at 30 paces. :D

The first one I ever fired was my dad's 6" Colt OP .22 when I was about six. It was stolen from his home sometime while I was away in the service or it'd be a cherished heirloom today.

The first one I ever owned was an old surplus Webley .380/200 I traded a bicycle for when I was fourteen. An old Lyman 310 tool and dies came with it, which is how I got started reloading.

The first brand new one I ever purchased was a Bernardelli M60 .380. I'd gotten a temporary job delivering drugs and medical supplies shortly after I was discharged and needed a discrete, reliable and relatively inexpensive CCW. Paid $75.00 for it at a local K-Mart, IIRC.

My first was a 3 inch Taurus model 66 after my twenty first birthday in 1991. Taurus revolvers don't seem to be as nice today as they did back then.

The day I turned 21, I took the day off and bought three pistols: a Taurus 605c, a Taurus PT945, and a Kimber Polymer Custom. The Kimber turned out to be the biggest disappointment. Ten years later I have NONE of them anymore!

Mom wanted to get me my first handgun as a Christmas present shortly after we joined a local Sportsman's club when I was a sophomore in high school. She came very close to buying a used High Standard semi-auto .22 pistol from another club member, but it had a broken firing pin and needed repair to become a shooter, and that was not something we knew how to do at the time.

Instead, she discussed it with a friend of the family that had his FFL and they decided together on a new Smith & Wesson model 17, K-22, with a 6-inch barrel, adjustable sights, target hammer and wide target trigger.

It blew me away. I literally could not believe what I had when I opened it.

1977 I bought a Colt Diamondback because I couldn't afford the Python. A sweet shooter which I still own and now I understand its a collectable firearm.

My first handgun purchase as a young man in the early 1970's was a German Walther PPK/S in .380 acp.

That was followed the same summer by a T series BHP.

I went to college full time and worked construction during the summers, spring break and Christmas.

I've still got the Hi Power and still love it. :D

The PPK/S was stolen in a burglery.

The insurance money funded my next purchase, a MK IV Series 70 Colt Govt. Model.

Stainless Ruger Single 6. It technically belongs to my wife so I guess the Ruger MKIII Hunter was MY first handgun.
