overpriced and second rate

I don't know about second rate so much but the XD is definatly overpriced. It was the HS 2000 before Springfield picked it up and jacked up the price by $150 - $200. Same basic gun, made in the same factory, just a name change.

Yet it's still cheaper than a Glock or S&W M&P ;), well, at least around my area that is. For my pick I'd have to go along with Kimber, or perhaps some S&W.

How about current new Colt 1911's. Way overpriced and over rated. I've seen and shot Rock Island pistols and Charles Daley pistols that were made better and shot better. And cost less than half as much!

I see Xd's for < or = $450 all the time and I live in the land of the $1.50 dollar menu...

My vote goes to Walther P22, Desert Eagle, Kahr.

Seecamp

Most of H&Ks line

Most high end 1911's.
As much as I love 1911s, I have never shot a Wilson, Les Baer, NightHawk, etc, that I was able to soot any better than an off the shelf Springfield, Kimber, Colt, or S&W.

Rohrbaugh for certain when it comes to overpriced, worst sticker shock I ever had. As far as overrated, Desert Eagle for certain, one word JUNK.

Interesting about the Kahr.

I bought a used Kahr MK9. It shoots better than any small gun should. In fact, it shot so well when the range let me try it, I bought it on the spot.

Given that experience, I recently bought a Kahr PM9. The price was about $100 too much, but it has turned out to be a superb and dependable carry weapon. Kahr did have some problems with the PM9 early on, and it could have been considered over-priced and even undependable. Looks like those problems have been worked out. I am glad I wasn't one of the people who bought an early version.

My Kahr PM9 is worth every penny. It has never failed to fire, and is as accurate as a full sized 9mm. It is the one gun I can carry everywhere.

I also have a Seecamp. It was a great carry gun back in the day, and was step up in power with the .32 Silvertips over the other .22 and .25 choices, but it is more of a collector's item than a first choice now. The Kel-Tec P-32 or P3AT is lighter and fires from a locked breech, so is a superior weapon. But why carry a .32 or .380 when you can carry a slightly larger Kahr PM9?

even though I'm a die hard 1911 fan I just cannot wrap my head around why people will pay $1000-2000 or more for one.

though by the same logic any pistol that costs more than $400 since a ruger can be had for around $300

and smith and wesson revolvers

Kimber
Korth

Sam06,

when I read this about the Korth, I had to shake my head! Among revolvers there is no current production gun that is a whole lot cheaper and offering the same consistent quality and fine finish for less, with maybe the exception of Freedom Arms.

I have doubts that you ever handled or shot a Korth. I have one and would like to get another Korth for the quality and accuracy that it offers.
