Four immediate concerns. First, are you a volnteer firefighter or full-time paid? Second, if you should be caught on municipal property (fire station) armed you are going to be charged with a felony and terminated, read your employee manual or code of conduct. Third, a LEO could stop you between home and work. If you are in uniform and armed, you could be charged with impersonating a LEO. Fourth, if you are vocal about this subject, an anti in the department could beef you. Creating a atmosphere of fear and dangerous conduct. Is it worth losing your CA firefighter certification/NFPA training and a criminal conviction/fine that might be given. My own thought is to find an attorney and file for a CCW. I would also subscribe to the Rocky Mountain Fire/Police newsletter. If you are NFPA Firefighter III certified, a lateral entry should be possible. Patience and an attorney are a good way to start.
