It's kind of like we're all crammed into a van driving down the interstate and get a flat tire. We have the ones who are mad at Firestone for producing a bad tire, the ones who are upset that the interstate isn't maintained to prevent flat tires, the ones who blame the driver, and a few more who think there ought to be a tire store right there to provide the replacement, hours of speculation about how much farther we would be had we not gotten a flat, more speculation about the other three tires and whether they might go flat too... Need I continue to babble pointlessly? This could go on for days... But it still doesn't do a thing about the flat tire. How about just changing the damn tire and lets get back on the road?!

Same thing here. We already know there's a problem. It's not going to solve itself. So lets hear some solutions. I'll rephrase that---PRACTICAL solutions. I've already popped a couple ideas out there--don't tell me those are the best we can come up with.

1) Fix Social Security. Obtaining bogus numbers allows too much. Additionally, since SSN is tied into taxes, and companies are required to have SSN's then that forces companies to comply with laws regarding hiring practices.

I can't find any way to "eradicate" 11 million current illegal aliens (wow, is that a loaded word or what?)

2) Fix health care. It isn't just illegals that are bankrupting emergency rooms. far too many legal folk aren't covered.

#1 should be easy in this technological age.
#2 is a lot more difficult, partly due to the bio-pharm lobby, and partly due to current legislation that forces ERs to service all comers, but fails to fund this.

I doubt it. But we could probably say that we migth have not had a flat if he had been driving instead of being in the back of the van with some pudgy chick half his age.

Right. It's a flat tire problem.. not the shocks!

Can't we just say "it's Clinton's fault" then go back to ignoring the problem?

IIRC Regan was behind the first amnesty. Didn't do much good did it? Or perhaps that was the beginning of the proliferation we have now?. Doesn't matter now I guess.

Sad where this thread has sank to. Pretty flat shocks or not.

Fat chicks jokes (no offense to the ladies in here...I am not skinny myself) are always more fun and usually higher class than most political debates.

Sank to? Naw, we're making faster progress than congress ever has. This is just intermission--get up, stretch the legs, buy some popcorn... Give us another couple days and there might even be a few solution ideas presented! Give us a week and we could deliberate the problems of the rest of the planet!

Anybody seen the lug wrench? Clinton! Put that down!

Rangefinder.

Post #78 has some very good ideas.

Eradicate sec. That may be a little harsh.

I am glad to see you conclude there is a problem with illegal immigration and your multiple SSN's suggestion as to a partial solution is a pretty good start by the way.

First: close the border to Mexico, The fence works believe it or not.
(I know I'm a racist)
Second: make legal immigration easier, not just for Mexico either.
This would be a start.

Third: The Americans that suffer the most from all the illegal immigrants comming from Mexico are the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation Hispanic Americans, yes Americans. Many live in border towns and cities and are forced into low income, low skilled jobs just to survive. Even when educated they are kept in low income jobs because thats all the market will bear.
Relocation is a way out but seldom done due to strong family ties.

Arizona is a right to work state, but sadly lacks skilled workers.

The bottom line is it's easier to dumb down Americans to reach equality then educate them, it also makes it easier to control them by making them dependent on goverment.

*Immediate cut-off of all gov't funding and subsidizing to everyone who can not provide proof of legal residency status.

Maybe it's my sense of human decency, or maybe I'm a hippie sympathizer, but would you really, really turn down an illegal alien if he stumbled into a hospital, after getting hit by a drunk driver? Mind you, this illegal alien wasn't jaywalking or misreading street signs or whatever, he was just sitting on a bench at a bus stop, waiting to take the bus to the plant, when CRASH! Drunken Joe Sixpack's Ford Bronco decides to make a pit stop on top of Diego's right leg.

Yes, your hard-earned, honest tax dollars are allowing this guy to freeload for healthcare, but are you really, really gonna let him bleed to death?

Morality hurts my head.

OK!
Here are a few possible ways to fight this:
Lock down the border tighter than a snare drum.
Immediate return of those caught crossing.
Fines/imprisonment for those hiring/renting to ILLEGALS.
Eliminate "wet foot,dry foot" policy.
Eliminate anchor baby policy.
Give all LEOs the authority to arrest/detain anyone not able to show some proof of citizenship.
No social services.
No schooling.
Trace every ILLEGAL student back to his/her ILLEGAL parent(s) and deport them.
Beef up the INS and begin an aggressive policy of making routine checks on businesses/housing/etc to weed out ILLEGALS.
The medical situation is sticky.
I do not advocate letting ANYONE die at the hospital doorstep because they are ILLEGAL.
So...
Does Mexico have any assets here?
If so, utilize funds from those assets to pay for ILLEGAL medical care.
At least until the situation gets back under control.
Does the US provide any aid to Mexico?
If so, deduct ILLEGAL medical costs from that aid.
Divert funds to create a pool of money from which hospitals could recoup their losses.
Patch up the ILLEGAL and send him/her/them home.
Put a 5 year moratorium on ALL immigration.
Study the effects and adjust our immigration policy accordingly.
Gotta go!

"Give all LEOs the authority to arrest/detain anyone not able to show some proof of citizenship."

Hold on there...

Would the hospital turn down anyone else without medical insurance? I believe there are laws against that now. Where did I ever hint at refusing to treat them as humans? I said (in a less discriptive way) no more welfare, no more food stamps, no more medicade, no more subsidized housing, ect... In other words, no more free ride. I don't believe I ever mentioned letting someone bleed to death. They'd get treated, then they'd be charged with imigration violations, then they'd get deported.

Where did he say that? I missed the that part. I think most would not deny immediate medical help...I know I wouldn't. So, why invent this situation? But finally we are getting to the point. This Country cannot sustain paying free social services to illegal workers.

And again. This is what is beginning to happen across our nation.

Put your hands over your eyes and ears...it's still there.

And why not?

I think the guys are coming up with some great ideas.

Your arrested driving without a license right? No papers or citizenship no drivers license, your under arrest, sounds good to me.

I mentioned before helping build the border fence. You break the law you pay a fine, as in speeding etc. Why not give a X amount of time on that fence if you caught illegal before being deported? Something along these lines would maybe help defray the cost of catching, detaining , and deporting.

but are you really, really gonna let him bleed to death?

This IMHO is typical PC thinking, and doesn't help to solve anything.
