Which handgun does your wife prefer?

Walther P-22. She's grew up shooting 22 caliber rifles and a revolver on her farm so she feels comfortable with that size of round.

Railed 1911, Hogue grips
backup is an LCP.
She also practices drawing from my conealed rig, just for SHTF.....Vets are scary sometimes.

My Wife has a Glock fetish?

She loves a semi auto 9mm? She bought a glock 26? Way to small for me but not my gun fits her hand well not mine ? Here is the thing. She can't hit crap with it misses by two feet with it. I will buy an LCR and carry it I hope she will shoot it and see the difference ? I know the difference in recoil is small but I only hope that the difference between hitting and missing makes her her change her mind? I am a wheel man. She likes the semi auto ? She is a small woman and has trouble racking the slide no trouble with a revolver pull the trigger and it fires! Am I wrong to try to change her to what I like? Or should I learn what she likes and help her be good with it?

Mine likes both the glock19 and 26. She shoots both very well. She also likes my Sig 226 but is a little unconfortable with the traditional double action/ decocker. I think the Glock or similar safe action, DAO type pistols with less controls may be easier for novice shooters to master.

I have had very bad luck with snubby airweight smiths which is what a lot of shooters gravitate to for "womens" guns. They've been just too punishing with recoil even with standard non +p loadings.

Mine preferrs to shoot my full size Colt 1911 at the range but we are looking for a compact 9mm for her to carry when she get her CPL.

After a couple of months of renting guns and trying different ones she got a beretta px4 9mm full size for her night stand
Very nice gun and easy to shoot for her (with the small grip panel)

S&W combat masterpiece 357 maggie. Simple to use, reliable, size is just right for a person with small hands, and accurate. Six shots is plenty IF you can shoot, we don't expect an army of gangbangers where we live.

Let me tell you, when I go to the freezer at 3am to steal some of her ice cream, the clicking sound of the trigger cocking is enought to convince I really didn't want her ice cream all that bad!

My wife has rheumotoid arthritis so she can't use certain guns especially those that require a tight grip, such as a G19. She can't hold it tight enough because of the blocky frame and it causes the brass to hit her cleavage (limp wrist). She also can't rack the slide. Ironically, she likes the XD45 because the grip is smaller and more ergonomic and because of this she can grip the gun more securely and is able to shoot it well. She can also rack the XD45's slide. The snubby .38's are punishment even for guys. I hate them. She can't use the Bersa .380 because she can't reach the trigger in DA and can barely rack the slide back. A firearm we both held and loved because of it's superior ergonomics and size was the Taurus 24/7 Pro. She can reach the trigger very easily and rack the slide very easily. I've also read on all the forums that it a quality firearm. We're about to buy one.

Yes, buck9, you are wrong. Get her some training, preferably not by you (women take criticism better from strangers). A Glock 26 is a great carry piece, even if you're not fond of it. Woman or not, no one will appreciate someone else's preferences pushed on them.

I know your pain. As I posted earlier, mine does as well. RA puts some serious constraints on just what she is able to handle and what she is able to operate. In her case, the 4" K frame Model 15 turned out to be ideal. Enough weight to absorb the recoil but not as heavy as, say, my 4" L frame 686. .38 Spl +P is enough to handle the self defense duties without being too punishing, especially in that K frame. There's no slide to rack and no magazines to load. There's loads of different grips out there for it, and the ones on it (unknown brand softer rubber, with light finger grooves in the front) actually fit her well. Add to that the usual good things that older K frames bring to the table. She loves it. I've gotta admit, it's a dream at the range. :D

My wife took this little gun from me while we were out shooting one day and hasn't given it back yet.I've been trying to find her something alittle smaller and lighter but she won't hear it.

She prefers my dads High Standard Supermatic. She came to the last gun show, and I asked her to pick out the gun that felt the best to her. She tried a bunch and settled on a CZ 27, in nice shape. She asked me not to buy it for her (should have bought it for myself).:D

We have identical tastes, my wife and I. She's fearless and will shoot anything from .22 lr up to and including .44 mags. Her current favorites: S & W 41, S & W 1911.

My wife has a couple of favorites. One is her Glock 26 and the other is my Kahr PM9. She had a guardian 380, but somehow I have the guardian now and she has the Kahr.
