What is your "best buy" gun?

A pair of Ruger New Vaquero's .45 colt. Stainless steel for $697.00 New in the Box. SN exactly 10 apart.

$348.50 each

About 35 years ago, I bought a used S&W model 58, in like new condition for $140.
Which (I think) was less than half the price of a new one, at the time.

Mine was at a local gun store which sells a lot of used and classic guns. I saw a SW 9mm revolver and knew it was unusual. I checked it out on the Internet and hurried back to the store. I picked it up for about half of what it was worth. Here's my Model 547:

SW Model 19 for $250. I cleaned it up. Shot it for a few months and sold it at a gun show within 5 minutes of walking in the door for $650.
Best deal I ever made..not the best gun I ever purchased. I sold it with original magnas not the Hogue Mono grip in pic.

The best buy of a quality gun that I still own would be my NIB SW Model 39-2 unfired outside of factory of course with box, papers unused mags..for $500.

I have been able to get good deals on every gun I have ever bought (I do massive research on any product I will be purchasing be it a refrigerator or 1187). So nothing really 'stands-out' so to speak. However, I remember a couple of years ago I walked into Cabela's looking to buy either a Marlin or Ruger .22lr (I have both now), but at the time I decided on the 10/22 technically at no cost in that I did not submit either cash or credit to procure it. I had over $300 in Cabela's CC points on my card (to this day I use it for everything from gas to groceries etc.). Each time you use it you will receive Cabela's points of which you can redeem only at their store (or online as well). It comes in GREAT at Christmas time. Definitively not doing an 'advertisement' so to speak here but maybe someone may not be aware of this benefit. I will say the feeling of walking out the door with a "free" and iconic American 10/22 was virtually euphoric . Of course the key here is to pay off the monthly balance or it renders this process illogical...

Would a S&W pre-27 3.5" barrel in above average shape for $150 qualify?

(A bud was in desperate straights and neither of us knew what he had at that time.......I'd been away from handguns for 40 or so years)

I've had quite a few,but the best would be the Python I bought last month. NIB,unfired, 8', Enickle finish with all the paperwork for $800.00!!

Right place at the right time!!:D

The unfired High Standard Model B .22 auto that I bought from a little old lady who carried it into the LGS to sell, where she was offered $50.00 "and you can keep the sock it's stored in".

In the parking lot after she left I offered her all I had in my pockets at the moment, a whopping $125.00. I told her three things that were true: (1) the LGS was trying to rip her off, (2) that it was worth at least $100 more than I had in my pocket, but (3) that was all that I had and that if she would accept it, I would make sure it was well kept and preserved. She appreciated the honesty and sold it to me on the spot. It's still unfired, and still in her late husbands sock (in my safe).

Other than that, it would be the CZ Model 82. Funny how that one keeps popping into conversations on pistols that ought to cost more...

my best deal

I paid $350 OTD for a High Point .45 carbine with the red dot sight. That's about avg going price around here but as far as fun to shoot, accurate, reliable, dead simple and outstanding customer service and warranty I still call it my best deal.
I like cheap guns that work and this little carbine definitely works.

Best buy value, by chance, and low haggle factor

Mine was a S&W Model 60 (ca 1977) with a Tyler grip adapter and Barami hip grip. I was driving along I-5 and saw a "pawn" shop along a frontage road, exited the freeway, and drove to the pawn shop. The shop had a $100.00 price tag on it and I had $75.00 cash on me. I asked if he would take the last of my cash, and he did.

About 10 years ago I picked up a Witness compact P 9mm with 3 mags for $165 at a gun show. The guy selling it said they were "not the best design" and were of "hit or miss" quality. Glad I knew more about them than he did, it's still one of my favorite guns.

Then about 4 or 5 years ago I happened into Gander Mountain the day they got a new shipment of German police trade in Sig P6's, walked out with an 85% condition P6, 2 mags and a holster for $245. Shot about 200 rounds through it twice and was offered $400 for the whole set up by a guy at the range, sold.

Last week on monday i bought a Tikka M595 Rh in .308 as an original Single-Shotrifle mounted thereon a leupold scope 6,5-20x50 for 1.100 € (about 1.350 $). The rifle is in excellent condition and yesterday the first time with this bella on the shooting range over a distance of 100 m she shoots in max. 2 cm Streukreis ( i dont know the english translation for this word, sorry.)

Best buy

Handgun: a Pardini Free pistol that I bought for $400.
Pardinirightside.jpg

Shotgun: a Parker VH for the same kind of money.
PICT0048.jpg

Rifles - a Martini Cadet (.310 Cadet) for $75. It had an obstruction in the barrel. Scored another barrel on Gunbroker for $75 and fitted it to the receiver. This is the sight in target at 100 yards. The last five shots are those in the ten ring. Iron sights. Nice little shooter.

1937 S&W 38-44 Heavy Duty with original pre-war Magna grips, all numbers matching. I bought it for $270 about three years ago.

A long and emotional story surrounding my dad and his best friend results in my wanting a Colt Python. My dad's best friend was a DPS trooper and carried one.

As a kid, I thought that was the baddest weapon on the planet.

So when I began looking at collecting guns a couple years ago, a Python was my "holy grail".

And here it is ...

Traded a Beretta Storm and couple humndred bucks for it.

Man I wish they would still produce this model (maybe they will do a commemorative run or the like down the road). Aesthetically speaking, I thought it was a tad bit 'prettier' than the S&W 686 line which is also a beast of a revolver (course, that Ruger GP100 model isn't chop liver...;)).
