What is your "best buy" gun?

I think I did pretty good on my Remington 870 Wingmaster. Had a $550 price tag on it in the store. Walked out with it for $400:)

I picked up a Smith and Wesson 4" blue 38/44 for 310 dollars fairly recently. I also picked up a 6" blue Model 57 for 275 dollars probably 15+ years ago (still a great deal) because the gunshop owner didn't think much of the .41 Magnum as a cartridge. I do.

Rossi .22

I bought a Rossi .22 a while back from a pawn shop for $80. Shot around a thousand rounds through it and sold it for $150 with a box of shells. Not happy about selling it but I made money off the deal so I cant complain.

My first 2 handguns. Both 4" S&W revolvers - a 686 .357mag and 617 .22LR. I bought them new on the same day. They've been (and still are) my most shot guns, so while it was a chunk of change up front, I consider it one of my wiser firearm-related purchases.

My best investment to date...in handguns...

is a 1911, Wilson Combat 5" gun chambered in 9mm ....that I ordered about 6 yrs ago now....

I shoot it almost every week .../ practice with it " a lot " ...and with almost 40,000 rds thru it by now ...its still buttery smooth ...and very accurate ....( the best $ 2,000 I've spent on a handgun )....

Only considering my currently owned firearms, and not the ones long gone that led to my rule #1 below I would say my T/C stainless G2 Contender with 35 Remington Super 14 barrel, 14" Match 22 LR barrel, Burris 2-7 Scope, and Boyt case......For $250.00.

I would have to say the P226 I bought last year. I won the auction on gunbroker for it for $600 and after putting a few hundred rounds through it I sold it for $850.

My "best buy" is also the gun spent the most on in my life. My S&W model 18 I bought recently. I had been wanting a S&W for a long time and even though it was not a super expensive gun I was finishing grad school and had to save for a long time before finally being able to get it. Now it is rarely not on my hip when im in the woods looking for dangerous aluminum cans :D.

No way to beat some of the above, but I was pretty happy with a new Marlin 795 for $100 until I just got a new in box Ruger Mark III 22/45 for $225 the other day. Maybe the Marlin is still my 'favorite' best buy, but I can't complain about the Ruger either.

It was actually 4 guns,,,

I made a bulk purchase from a friends estate,,,
in my defense I had absolutely no disposable money at the time,,,
I even told the lady I was ripping her off but this was all I could afford to spend.

She said she just wanted them out of her possession.

J.P. Saur & Sohns (sic) SAA Clone in .357 Magnum,,,
Dakota SAA Clone in .357 Magnum,,,
Trooper Mk III in .357 Magnum,,,
S&W Model 36 - .38 Special.

$500.00 out the door.

I thanked her profusely!

Bought a Silver satin Colt Govt mod 1911 for 250.00 Then another 100.00 to make run right.Still a pretty good deal.:D

Bought a 1917 DWM 9MM P08 Luger with all matching numbers, and a Walther ac 41 P-38 with all matching numbers and original holster, which were vet bring backs by a guy from Cleveland Texas.Paid $1,500.00 for the lot.

About 10 years ago, 6" nickel Python, with box, paperwork, two sets of grips and two speedloaders. Mint condition. $350.

7 years back, 4" blued Viper. Wrong box but not a mark on the gun. $235.

Not incredible but I was super happy for it being my first handgun purchase. It was a very lightly used M&P9 with 7 magazines and night sights for $500.

In handguns it would have to be my 7.5" blue Redhawk. Slightly used in a Hunter cowboy rig for $160 otd. It pays to be friends with a pawnshop owner.

In a strange pawnshop they had a 12 GA Wingmaster for $350 and I told him I could go right over to Kmart and get one for $189 so he matched it. He didn't know what a Wingmaster was. It was just a 870 to him. 212 otd.

I bought a Winchester M70 Lightweight (243 Win) about 30 years ago with a Bushnell scope, sling and case for $125.00, last year I got a M28 for $250.00 It's a beater but after a re-blue (so much for my $250 gun) :) I now have $400 in it but it's one of my favorites.

I think my best buy so far has been the P-64 for $179. Shoots the 9/18 Makarev round, easily concealable and fun to shoot. Any reliable handgun shooting modern ammo for under $200 is a good buy.
