What is your "best buy" gun?

I think my best buy so far has been the P-64 for $179. Shoots the 9/18 Makarev round, easily concealable and fun to shoot. Any reliable handgun shooting modern ammo for under $200 is a good buy.

I happened to be in one of the LGS a couple months ago when a gentleman came in to sell his shotgun. He opened the case and showed the clerk a beautiful left-handed Remington 1100 12ga. he was asking $500 for. He explained that he'd just had a new O-ring put in it and from where I was standing the gun appeared to be about 98% condition. I hung back like a vulture waiting to make an offer as soon as the shop bought it. Amazingly, the clerk told this fellow "Not interested" after taking a ten second look at it.
I walked out with this fellow and bought the shotgun from him for $375 right there in the parking lot. It functions perfectly and no doubt is the single best deal I've ever made on a gun.

I bought a 20-year-old S&W 60-4 which I've learned is a low-production target revolver. I believe it, it's so smooth with a very light trigger and adjustable sights. I have a dream gun.

Most likely best buy (that others can partake of): Swiss K31 bolt action for ~300$
My best buy: Luxembourg FN49 in 30-06 for 600$ (two weeks ago!)
Favorite buy: S&W TRR8, 8-shots of .357, with the weight of a J-frame!

The Swiss is very cool, easily the highest quality gun available for under several grand (if not more) today that wasn't made specifically for target shooting (or as a luxury item). It is one of, if not the most accurate mass-produced bolt rifles made last century (K98 usually comes in first, barely, but a far more common). It's only downsides are the old-world-craftsmanship weight, ancient stock ergonomics, and uncommon (but extremely effective) 7.5 Swiss cartridge (which is ballistically between/identical to .308 and 30-06)

The FN49 was just a ridiculous deal I found on Gunsamerica the other day. Rifle hasn't arrived yet (Monday!!!), but if it's in 1/3 the condition the seller claims and shows in photos, I got it for about half what I see them at typically  600$ for a proto-FAL. Awesome.

I have been very blessed in the gun department, but I guess my 2 best were. After a trade I got a Les Baer PII NIB and was only in it $105, also bought an all original WWI Colt 1911 for only $800 and sold it for $1700.

S&W 29-4 44 mag LNIB $200

From an investment standpoint, I acquired a CZ75 short rail, made in 1977 and mint condition, for about 1/3 what it might sell for (the price was so good, I can't bring myself to tell it, in case I DO sell the gun). From a user standpoint, I got a Walther PPS for $350 recently, and a Glock 29 OD green for $425, but both of those are so fine, I would buy them again at retail or better. To me, they might represent the best of the best for concealment and defense, based on performance and accuracy.

Since gifts are out, even though my wife has gotten some real bargains for me. The best deal I got was a Remington 1100 Tournament Skeet shotgun with beautiful wood for $400.00.

I was tempted to say the Ruger BH Convertible 45LC/45ACP. Just because at 500 dollars new, it's solid and very versatile. You get a lot of gun for the money with Ruger.

Right now I've got a S&W 659 on layaway at my favorite LGS for 325.00. It has original box, papers and extra mag. The gun looks brand new, not a scratch on it. If it has been shot at all it was very little.

My Ruger Single Six .22lr/22wmr in LNIB condition. Paid $125 out the door from a pawn shop right off base in Jacksonville, NC almost 20 years ago. Still one of my favorite guns and is now the oldest gun in my battery. Will probably die this gun.

My best buy would be a Ruger Security Six I got last year, It's a 1982 stainless model with six inch barrel/target grips/red insert on the front sight.
It had to be a safe queen, because the revolver is tight as a brand new gun and it didn't look like it was ever shot................not scratch on the metal or wood, little or no turn ring on the cylinder. Got it for $350 at a local gun shop which here in SoCal is a great deal.......................if you can ever find a S6 for sale?
:D.

DWM Dutch Luger

I've been lucky many times, but this was my best find: a DWM Dutch contract luger complete with holster, original mag and cleaning rod for $723 OTD. Originally captured by a Japanese soldier after they invaded the Dutch East Indies, then one of our guns captured it from him. These were ordered by the Dutch in 1911 or so but DWM did not complete the contract due to WWI. Approx 5k were made. All matching down to the firing pin. SN or last two is in 15 different places. I found out the holster is one of the rarest luger holsters of all. It came into a FFL dealer I deal with after the daughter of the WWII vet decided to sell of the guns from her dad. The FFL had 2 "experts" appraise it who BOTH misidentified it. A local collector who has a large luger collection never has owned one of these. He has been collecting for over 30 yrs. He offered me $2500 for it, and I turned him down. The holster has Japanese kanji markings on the inside flap.

Here is what Simpsons wants for them:

USPc .40

My "best buy" was my H&K USPc .40 with the stainless slide. I got it for $550 with 2 extra mags and a box of ammo. A friend of my father's bought it new and never liked it. Supposedly it only had around a box of ammo through it, but I never really believe the round counts of previous owners.

That I still own, my K31. I paid whatever market price at the time was. $350 or around there.

I got a bt99 a few years back with a little bluing wear and a small chip out of the stock. $300. I resold it for $600 a few months later(after putting maybe 1000 shells through it) and everybody was happy.

S&W Model 586 .357 Magnum with a 4 inch barrel and a bead blasted matte finish with Houge grips from the factory. I see Smith and Wesson has reintroduced the 586 Classic Series. paid about $250.00 for it it was barely used.

one of the best was picking up a like new CZ75B last winter for 350.00
My smith did not think a 100rnds had been through it.After an action Job and new sights I was still well under new pricing and it's becomming one of my favorites.
