What handgun would you go back in time to buy if you could?

If you only went back 2 years and bought short barrel pythons you would have doubled your money.

Early Pythons and S&W M27s. So beautiful, I'd have one of each for show, one for shooting and sell the rest at obscene profit. :D

My #1 priority would have been scooping up original K98 Mauser Snipers, however. With a truckload of those, I could retire early....

edit: forgot I was in the HAND GUN FORUM....

First choice: I would go to about 1955 and buy about a dozen surplus M-1 Garands on the cheap.

Second: A 6-inch Colt Peacemaker.

Third: A genuine "Tommy Gun."

Bonus: A Civil War 5-inch Howitzer!!!

Assuming it's not to get rich but because I can't afford to buy because of high price or extint:
1. Registered Magnum.. yes...J Edgars
2. GS Patton's .45 Colt Peacemaker & his reported SW Reg magnum
3. The original .45 auto 1911 prototyped by JM browning (Sits in the browning Museum in Ogden Utah

This is rather mundane compared to most people's choices, but I'd use the ol' time machine to go and buy back the Ballester-Molina that saved my bacon in 1995, and that I later had to sell during a very tight financial time.

A 4" Colt Python in Blue to go with my 6" Python in Blue. I also have 6 Dade Speed Loaders to go with the 6" Python. Those were the first push Speed Loaders seen in the movie Magnum Force. Dade Screw Machine Corp. is still in business but they don't make speed loaders anymore.

Two areas would influence my choices-

Budget and Historical Appeal (to me)- If I could get the gun for the price I saw it at, or when it was issued.
Garand- Saw them in 1960 for $79 at Golden State Arms
B A R- When they were for sale to civilians ...Semi-auto would be ok with me.
LeMatt revolver- 44 cal 9 shot pluse 16 gauge back-up barrel. Confederate issue in the War of Northern Aggression
BroomHandle Mauser (1896) with shoulder stock

Scotty beam me back to the 1920`s so I cam buy 1000 1911`s then beem me back here so I can cash in and enjoy my new found wealth:D

A brand new Colt Pocket Hammerless in .32 acp
Broomhandle Mauser
A few of the old timey pocket hammerless revolvers from S&W in .32 & .38 S&W.

For a handgun, I'd have to say it would be a very nice Model 19 snubbie that I passed on stupidly because I was saving up for a truck.

For a rifle, I'd love a BAR.

For a shotgun I'd say an old Winchester "Trench Broom".

The Cody Firearms museum in Cody, WY has John Browning's very first rifle, serial number #1. I would think if you had that, you could sell it for enough to buy every other gun on this list.

I'd get me a few of those 1911's and Lugers that were advertised on the back of comic books for $29.95.

Around 1980 or so I was looking to buy my first .22 semi-auto pistol. I was lusting over the recently released Colt Ace, but instead bought the less expensive Browning Challenger II that was currently on the market. It was a nice .22, but not an Ace. Since then I have always wanted a true Colt Ace, but have never been ready to plunk down the money they are getting now more as collector pieces, than shooters.
