What Handgun Have You Owned For The Longest Time

In 1957. l purchased a 38 S&W Victory model and a 1911A1. They were both in about new condition. The 38 cost $29 and the 45 cost $39. I still have both of them. Both guns were mail order guns from Golden State Arms. I was freshman in college at the time. I think that I did pretty good. :)

S&W Model 19

My father gave it to me 1n 82 when I got my pistol permit. The next week my grandfather gave me a S&W 1926 .44 Spl.. I still have both and they will go to my son or grandson if they can still own guns when I'm gone.

S&W model 39, 41 years ago

I bought the S&W model 39 shown below in 1968, in a gun store in Virginia. It has been a good gun and works perfectly.

My oldest handgun is my Glock 22. I bought it used around 1995. Thought about selling it once, but just couldn't part with it.

An original Colt 1911-.45 ACP, marked U.S. Government Property, given to me by my uncle (former US Army Captain) when I was in high school (around 1962). He actually gave me a box of parts and I had to figure out how to put it together. A few parts needed to be replaced, but it functioned reliably and shoots fine. Used it to qualify for my first CCW permit in 1995.

I've had the longest? I guess it would be a Colt SA 41 Special that was my fathers. I think it was his father's. I've had it since I was about 18, about 33 years now. Next to that, a Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk, 44M, 7 1/2 brl, had it since about '81.

Glock 21 after selling my old beater 1911 which was twenty years old and firing tens of thousands of rounds through it. The Glock has about 5 000 rds through the tube.

I still have the first handgun I bought in 1997. I was just legal to purchase(21), and I picked up a like new Ruger Gp-100 SS 6", I still have it to this day.
Almost unbelievable considering I sold it 2x before...

We have two. One's a S&W 629 .44 mag (early model with pinned barrel & recessed chambers) that we bought at the Ansbach Rod & Gun Club back in 1982. We also bought a M63 .22/32 Kit Gun as a gift for our pending son. It has recessed chambers too... :D

The gun I've owned the longest is the my oldest firearm -- gun I've owned the longest -- my HK P7M8 -- date code '87 owned since '87. My oldest gun -- Colt Python circa '69

My very first : a CZ .22 LR bolt action rifle. Still shoots pretty darned good after 30 years.

As for handguns : a S&W 4" 586. Must be about 25 now.
