Although I didn't own it at the time, essentially my grandfather's 1920s Colt New Service in .45 Colt, which was often my companion in the woods as a teenager.
The first one I bought for myself was my faithful Browning Hi Power 9mm. I bought a Smith & Wesson 915 9mm a couple years later with the idea that it would be a more ideal carry weapon, but it was so quickly shamed by the Browning that I sold the 915.
70's was the Dan Wesson MASSIVE 44 magnum. It was soooo heavy ...oh did I mention it was Stainless Steel. We used to have hand loading wars to see who could get the biggest flame after dropping the hammer.
