What caliber was your first handgun??

When I was 19 and had begun doing union ironwork I was making more than $100 per week for the first time in my life. I was at the gun shop looking at a Govt model 45 for $135.00 NIB or a S&W 357 magnum model 19 for $120.00 also NIB. I went for the model 19.

H&R 922

9 shot revolver 22 caliber because it was all I could afford for HD for wife in San Diego. Low ranking sailors didn't make much money back in 69. Upgraded to a 38 super later and now I have a whole bucket full of handguns including the 922. Wished I still had the 38 super but that's the way it goes.

.30-40 Krag .... a carbine, Winchester model 1895 ....when I was 10.
I killed my first white tail deer the previous fall, when I was 9, with that rifle ....and he gave me the gun for my 10th birthday that winter.

My first handgun was a S&W model 10, .38 spl again passed down in the family when I was about 14.

I think the first gun I bought new - was a Browning BPS 12ga shotgun in the 70's.

( and I still have all three guns )....

The first handgun I ever shot was my father's Ruger Mk II .22. After that range trip, my Grandfather gave me a Bersa Thunder .380, which you could say was my first handgun. However, the first handgun I bought for myself was a Springfield G.I. 1911 in .45 ACP. It was love at first trigger pull.

.357 magnum. But that was only the first one I bought for myself. I grew up around guns, had shot many calibers and types long before I acquired my own.

.22 LR,Ruger Single-Six of course. 6.5 barrel, blued, later sent off to Mahovsky's in Pennsylvania to have their Metalife finish applied. Now looks like matte stainless, and comes with Chuck Taylor's approval too [the finish, not necessarily the gun].
