Thousands Rally for Immigrants Across U.S.

"On a side note, why did the Border Patrol and INS not simply back up the trucks at these rallies? On camera many at these rallies admitted to being illegals"

mighta got ugly...riot ugly.dont say I didnt tell you so.

Lets look at it another way

With most issues I come across in life I try really hard to view all angles of the problem.
Since I'm not Mexican nor have I personally crossed any borders illegal like or been keep out of any boarders in my life It's harder for me to relate to this situation.
I did grow up in Texas and do know a lot of Mexicans though. Most of them are good people and most of them had parents that came into the U.S. illegal like so there children could be U.S. Citzens. I grew up with these people.

The difference is none of those people are protesting for illegal rights. Just like I wouldn't go into Mexico and protest. If they want to protest they should be trying to protest to there own Government for better rights. Not ours.

When you get Right down to it the term is Illegal, we all know what it means and they are Straight Up Slaping every single Law abiding Tax Paying American Citzen in the Face with this protest.
Yes they know they are Illegal and No they don't give a **** what our Laws say. They are here in our home and we did not invite them in but to make it worse they are being loud as hell.

Have these people proven that they are capable of making a positive contribution to our society?

How do we know?? Since they are illegal there is no documentation of what they are doing. If they are illegal, how do they pay taxes as so many of them claim they do?

To those who suggest stocking up on more ammo: what do you want to do, round up anyone who's Hispanic

Illegal... 11 million.... What is NOT scary about that?
I own my gun primarily for protection, Ammo is necessary for that.

Frankly, I'm disgusted at the blatent racism here.

"Racism" is such an easy word to throw around. Frankly, I'd be concerned if 11 million Swedes infiltrated our country. Particularly because they can't walk here.

On a side note, why did the Border Patrol and INS not simply back up the trucks at these rallies? On camera many at these rallies admitted to being illegals.

RIGHT!?!?!? I mean, they are there for the grabbing but I'm sure some political or racial connotations would come to play. EDIT: Not to mention potential riots.

What if everybody that wanted to own a gun started carrying without a permit illegally because they didn't want to abide by the current law. Eleven million illegal gun owners would have to be heard. BUT, we do it legally, by the book and suffer the consequences if we break the law.

I'm 62, the son of a legal immigrant from Russia, and I served 24 years in the U.S. Army. I have always tried to be positive in my outlook and attitude, but I fear that the America that I know, love and fought for is already past the point of no return. I desperately fear for the well being of my children and grandchildren in this future US of Mexico. I work for a church sponsored health care organization that misguidedly but sincerely believes that we should extend a welcome helping hand to everyone in need, even if they came here illegally and drain the resources that are intended for citizens. The solution is really simple, a real wall on the border and strict sanctions and fines against employers of illegals. What is missing is not a solution but the political will to act. Democrats are salivating at the thought of regaining power with the help of these poor people and Republicans both fear the alienation of Hispanic voters and the loss of cheap labor for their rich business owners. Those of us who would stand up for America and Americans are disorganized and few. I have never been one of those crazies who expect the black UN helicopters to swoop down on them, but I am making sure that I have the weaponry and ammunition to stage the final defense if need be. Until then I will keep trying to convince everyone I know that this problem must be addressed before it is literally too late to overcome. I guess I'm not very effective at communicating this since some of my own grown kids think I'm just a right wing gun nut who hates immigrants.

Captain obvious here, 11 million people(+) infiltrate our country slowly, over time, essentially with our government's blessing. Now that there is mounting demand for action due to acts of war commited against our country, our government's reaction is "appeasement"? We are long since screwed folks. Seems so easy, just time consuming, to take the U.S. this way, piece by piece, just by showing up in numbers in the streets, again with our government's blessing. Reminds me of a game of GO. Lord bless and keep our good people when the rioting does start in earnest, because it has to now. Push is coming to shove, what's next?

I am not afraid to tell you that I immigrated to America for a better life for myself. I found that life, I'm living the dream, I did it all legally and I left Canada <not a shabby place to be from>. I have a real problem with people that come here illegally. For years I sat quietly as a Resident Alien, unable to vote, unable to have my say. It wasn't my right to vote, I hadn't earned that right yet. I applied for Citizenship at my very first opportunity and am proud and willing to fight for my country.

So you want a say, apply like the rest of us, get accepted and get a say.

What do you mean Americans won't do the jobs the Mexicans are doing...? How do you know. They're already filled. If you want to end one problem, fine employers who have illegals working for them. They're cheating the whole system and all of us. There is already a migrant worker visa for seasonal workers like farm help etc. There's a legal means, employers just don't use it.

You want to solve the other bigger problem... Close down the borders, all of them. You have to have the right paperwork and reason to be here, if you don't, you don't get to come in. Simple as that. Once the borders are secured I think the problems can start to be addressed.

Last thing... better fix the language thing. This is American, it's my understanding we speak English here. I don't want to have to press "1 for English, 2 for Spanish". Learn to speak the language of the natives or learn not to get along. Here in OK you can take your driver's license test in Spanish... last I looked there were no road signs in Spanish. The next thing you know you'll have 2 official languages like Canada.

Sorry for the soap box, I just did it all the right way and it really chaps my hide for the people that do it all illegally.

Time To Put Pressure On Fellow Americans...

...the problems facing our country today are those individuals who sell out America's future for a fast advantage today...if you know people who hire illegal aliens..tell them they are an absolute part of the problem...put your country first ..IT is the entity that has given you your freedoms and opportunities...not your 'friends' and 'associates'...the time of grace is over...my religion comes first, my country second(which has protected my first loyalty)...individuals who undermine those previous two come a distant last...

andyrnokc.....NEVER apologize for being RIGHT...

To those who suggest stocking up on more ammo: what do you want to do, round up anyone who's Hispanic (or looks that way), and escort them to the border at gunpoint? Do you feel that threatened? Maybe we should set up some concentration camps to hold them until we can toss them back over the border.

I don't support letting every illegal immigrant stay in the country illegally, and think everyone immigrating to this country should learn English (which most do). But fact is, most simply want a better life for themselves and their families, and act accordingly.
In my experience, there are a lot of jobs in this country that Americans are not willing to do. You may find plenty that will take the job, they just don't feel that that they should have to give anything in return for their paycheck.

I don't hear anyone suggesting we give anybody an opportunity to change their status to legal.

1st off, no racism was even slightly implied. In fact, my exact words were:

why do they even have ANY RIGHTS AT ALL!? NO RIGHT TO ASSEMBLE, PROTEST, DEMONTRATE, or even BE HERE AT ALL! Those are rights afforded to legal american citizens. (reguardless of race, color, creed, origins, ect. If you are LEGAL you are AMERICAN no matter where you came from. Race doesn't matter, none of our ancestors are FROM here either)

How in the bloody blue hell do you see any racism in that? I guess people see what they WANT to see huh?

2nd, they are here ILLEGALLY. And by demontrating and protesting, they are trying to change laws that do not apply to them in the 1st place. They are standing up in a show of force, flying the flag of a foreign country openly, and speaking against our government! What does that make them? It makes them ILLEGAL CRIMINALS! They are trying to take our country and change our government by a show of FORCE. It is not RACIST to round up a foreign force opposing your government, and expell them from your soil by whatever means nesessary. They have already shown they are ready and more than willing to blatantly ignore and spit on our laws, and our government DOES NOTHING.

They tried to take some land once, and some texans stood up and said no. I guess they decided to finally come back and slowly take it all.....

YES, they are people....but YES they are also a LAW BREAKING, OCCUPYING FOREIGN FORCE.....11 million strong.....

mthalo..the racist card is a chickencrap move made by those with an indefensible side of a debate...I usually throw it right back at them when attempted..I don't cringe at that ancient, worn out, cheap-shot...

mthalo, I agree with all of these posts...except yours. Aperson would have to be blind, deaf, and ignorant of reality to see racism in any of these.....except yours. Now I gotta go to my bunker and build me some ammo! (rubs hands together and giggles maniacally):p I also would like to volunteer my services, Ill back a 99 Pete with either a bullrack or a frieght box right up to the crowd if someone wants to run the chute. I cost $3.00 a loaded mile, but I'll do it for fuel and grub.:D And before anyone starts wailing about racism or zenophobia, I was not always an American. I chose to become one LEGALLY.

Thousands Demonstrate Over Immigration

NEW YORK (AP) — Hundreds of thousands of people demanding U.S. citizenship for illegal immigrants took to the streets in dozens of cities from New York to San Diego on Monday in some of the most widespread demonstrations since the mass protests began around the country last month.

Rallies took place in communities of all sizes, from a gathering of at least 50,000 people in Atlanta to one involving 3,000 people in the farming town of Garden City, Kan., which has fewer than 30,000 residents.

Demonstrators in New York City held signs with slogans such as "We Are America," "Immigrant Values are Family Values," and "Legalize Don't Criminalize." One sign said: "Bush Step Down."

"We love this country. This country gives to us everything," said Florentino Cruz, 32, an illegal worker from Mexico who has been in the United States since 1992. "This country was made by immigrants."

The protesters have been urging lawmakers to help an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants settle legally in the United States. A bill passed by the House would crack down on illegal immigrants and strengthen the nation's border with Mexico. A broader overhaul of immigration law stalled in the Senate last week.

Monday's demonstrations followed a weekend of rallies in 10 states that drew up to 500,000 people in Dallas and tens of thousands elsewhere. Dozens of other rallies, many organized by Spanish-language radio DJ's, have been held nationwide over the past two weeks, including one with more than 500,000 people in Los Angeles.

In the nation's capital, thousands of immigrants, their families and supporters marched Monday from Hispanic neighborhoods past the White House, then converged on the National Mall.

In North Carolina and Dallas, immigrant groups called for an economic boycott to show their financial impact. In Pittsburgh and other cities, protesters gathered outside lawmakers' offices. At the Mississippi Capitol, they sang "We Shall Overcome" in Spanish.

In Atlanta, many in white T-shirts, waving American flags, joined a two-mile march from a largely immigrant neighborhood.

The Rev. James Orange from the Georgia Coalition for the People's Agenda compared the march to civil rights demonstrations led by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and farm-labor organizer Cesar Chavez.

"People of the world, we have come to say this is our moment," Orange said.

In New Jersey — with the Statute of Liberty in the background — several hundred people listened to speeches in Spanish and waved U.S., Colombian and Mexican flags.

Thick crowds gathered in New York's Washington Square Park before marching to City Hall. Many waved flags, both American and of countries of their origin. Korean-Americans beat drums nearby. Another group marched from Chinatown, and a third demonstration took place in Brooklyn.

Police declined to estimate the size of the crowds, but organizers said 125,000 people were present at City Hall.

One of the Korean drummers, Grace Nam, 35, who is an American citizen, said: "We just need to make our voices heard. You want to live in a place where people are treated with dignity."

Peter Lanteri, director of New York's chapter of the Minutemen, a volunteer border watch group, said he thought it was "ridiculous" that illegal immigrants were protesting for their rights.

"Illegal is illegal, and they break our laws to come here," Lanteri said by telephone. "We want the illegal immigration stopped and the borders secured."

Supporters in San Diego planned to hold a ceremony to honor immigrants who died while illegally crossing the border.

In Phoenix, police estimated that at least 50,000 people marched from the state fairgrounds to the Capitol for a rally. Exit ramps were closed and traffic on freeways through downtown was backed up for miles. At one point, the crowd stretched more than two miles.

In Houston, event organizers estimated that 50,000 people gathered at a park in a largely Hispanic area of town as they rallied to march toward the spot where the city's founders first arrived.

Maria Santiago, 53, an outreach coordinator for nonprofit health clinic in Harrisburg, Pa., said she sees many illegal immigrants seeking access to health care.

"These are people that are willing to take any job, clean bathrooms, scrub floors for a measly penny so that they have an opportunity to live in this country ... and yet we want to send them back because they want a better life?" Santiago said.

If people do not find this alarming, they need to wake up. This is fast shaping up to be a real BAD situation. And it is VERY disturbing that not only is this behavior being allowed by our government and people, it is being AIDED by some. What in the world have our citizens become!? It is BEYOND sheep....

What do some of the more political minded members here think? For some reason this whole thing is giving me a really bad gut feeling. This could really get terribly ugly.....

These people are now waving American flags and saying "We love this country and we want to be Americans"; but ask how many of them would be in favor of annexing Mexico into the United States.

There is a lawful process to immigration that they simply do not want to abide by. They want to skirt the lawful process and get instant gratification -- further proof of their desire to become good American citizens. The people who advocate the skirting of the lawful process give excuses like "They don't want to wait", "The process takes too long", and "They are too poor to afford the process".

But what if other lawful processes were similarly skirted?

A man desires to have sex with a woman. The lawful process is that he asks her out on a date, takes her to dinner, to a movie, or whatever. This process may have to be repeated numerous times before she relents to his amorous advances.

The skirting of the lawfiul process is that he simply rapes the woman. I'm sure those who hate the lawful process would say "He didn't want to wait", "The process takes too long", and "He is too poor to afford the process".

A man desires a fine automobile. The lawful process is to work hard, save your money, and buy, title, and register the automobile.

The skirting of the lawful process is that the man steals the car. I'm sure those who hate the lawful process would say "He didn't want to wait", "The process takes too long", and "He is too poor to afford the process".

All things have a right and wrong process whereby they are attained. These people simply want to use the wrong process and use excuses like "They don't want to wait", "The process takes too long", and "They are too poor to afford the process" as excuses for their breaking the law.

and think that we were watching with some dellusioning self-assurance at Frances' social unrest a few months ago....

remember..the first demonstrations had the illegal aliens showing their true face...this recent batch was full of orchestrated symbolic-yet-decieving PR bull..!

I was slowlly winding down

I've been talking this over with various people pretty much all day and had kinda winded down. Then I made the mistake of checking the boards one more time before I went to bed...

And what Jimpeel said got me all worked up again.

After reading that I thought DEAR GOD, THERE RAPEING AMERICA. That is the way I'm going to answer any questions and express my view on the Subject from now on. Thank you for a great way to express my feelings about this. I can think of no better way to explain it.

EDIT: I also use the anti-protection unstead of the anti-gun "term" thanks to whoever made that post a few weeks ago also.

"On a side note, why did the Border Patrol and INS not simply back up the trucks at these rallies? On camera many at these rallies admitted to being illegals"

mighta got ugly...riot ugly.dont say I didnt tell you so.
Then I have criminal charges and maybe some fear in those who think that supporting those who break the law is okay.
Criminals do what criminals do. All the more reason to round up undocumented people who can't be bothered to fill out paper work.

I am sure many did move here to get a better life. That is no reason to forgo asserting out sovereign rights to control our border.
I am all for imigration - legal imigration.

As for that silly racism remark, I really don't care which country they came from. Just because somebody is Latino doesn't exempt them from the law. Hey, I'm Chinese-American decended from legal immigrants. I'm not suggesting building cheap ferries to make it easier for Chinese to illegally immigrate. I'm against the ones that do.
What exactly is the point of playing by the rules and working hard if everybody else gets special treatment, btw?

Their will be no wall built or mass deportation! The people of Mexico will not allow it. That's right they will not allow it!The sleepy Americans have slept to long and are to busy trying to be politcally correct to do or say anything about it. Things are changing, Learn Spanish! This is going to be the United States of Mexico. So just deal with it. Tell the American people to go back to sleep. The American people will not do anything until it has a direct affect on them and by that time, it's too late. So just go back to sleep and pretend things are OK. Just like the Roman empire we are falling from within. Mexico is going to take this coutry without firing a shot. It's OK the corporate greedy bastards want cheep labor and it going to work out fine for them. We are going into a country of the haves and the haves nots. Our politicans are in the pockets of corporate America and are to busy worring about votes and kissing the asses of illegals. That right out great leaders are kissing the assess of a bunch of illegals and President's Fox . Maybe President Bush can ask permission from the great people of Mexico to slow down the invasion so we can have time to learn spanish and their culture.

A couple of states have declared states of emergency over the illegal alien invasion. The Constitution says this:
No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.
Well, hasn't the federal government delayed long enough?

Perhaps it is time for a governor of at least one state to declare that a state of war exists between that state and the Republic of Mexico. Maybe then the feds would sit up and take notice. Of course, whatever action they did take would be against that state and its governor; but then the true agenda would be out before the American people and then perhaps they would actually do something.

Derius T,
I was not referring to your post when I implied racism, I was referring to some others that came after yours. I still think that some of the comments about stocking up on ammo would never have been made had these protesters been from Canada, or Ireland.

I've reread everyone's post and, oh well, no chance of winning this debate, and I concede defeat.

My people were denied entry into this and other countries in the late 30's and as a result was that they were murdered in the Holocaust, so the issue is one I'm quick to bring up an alternate view on.

One thing I agree with for sure, things are going to get ugly.

For the record, I am only the second generation of my family born in the US

I think we should stop all LEGAL immigration from Mexico until this problem is "fixed"

These people obviously don't feel bound by our laws.....how else can they believe that they are NOT criminals:confused:
