The #1 reason you carry the semi/wheel gun you do

I like them. I have bveen shooting a lot of 1911's and S&W revolvers

over the last 40 + years and I am still pretty good at it. I have alot of others, but I like shooting them.

Funny how we get so excited about our guns that we just can't bring ourselves to adhere to the rules stipulated by the OP...

Well as much as I'd like to tell you all of the reasons I like my favorite carry gun, I'll try to refrain, and just answer the question...

Lately, my primary carry gun has been a S&W 642.

#1 Reason, because it's the most convenient to drop in a pocket.

I would rather carry any 45ACP... but due to size and reliability of the S&W J -frame, the J frame gets my vote.

My daily carry is a S&W 638 Stainless in a Don Hume SOB clip on holster. If I'm on my scooter, It's the Ruger SP-101 Stainless 3 1/16" with .38's in a Don Hume JIT slide holster on my hip (I have a backrest on my bike so I can't carry in SOB) and either the SA GI .45 3" or the Taurus PT1911 Stainless in the saddlebag. Oh, and I carry the 638 the most because it's light/stainless/concealable and.......I'm betting......dependable.

S&W J-frame revolver in dress clothes year-round because it's the most powerful package I can fit in a pocket.

Kahr P9 in casual clothes (IWB) because it fits my hand like it was made for it.

S&W 1086 in cold weather and casual clothes because there's no such thing as too much kinetic energy.

I have a ruger lcp in my front pocket all of the time. Why?You never know when you will need it AND it is small, liteweight, and concealable.

When not at work I usually have an HK usp compact .357 sig on me as well. Why?Because it has ample shots,I shoot it well, and enough power to end the fight.

Same for the Bersa .380,colt det special,or taurus .44 snub that I may wear depending on clothing.

Trying to stick with the spirit of the thread. The #1 reason I carry a G29 as my EDC: I've long been a fan of the 10mm round and I wanted to carry a 10mm. The Glock 29 is, IMO, the best platform for me to carry a 10mm as a concealed handgun.

I have a good half dozen or more other reasons, but that was the motivator to buy it in the first place and I'm damn happy with it.

I have several guns, semi-autos and revolvers that I carry regularly, depending on situation and attire. But the EDC is a Ruger LCP in an Alessi pocket holster, because it is so compact and light that there is no reason not to always have it with me. When I carry something else in a belt holster (IWB or OWB), the LCP comes along, too, relegated to backup. Just no reason not to carry it.

In cool weather, I mostly carry a .45 acp 1911. I do carry either a J-frame S&W in a pocket holster or, sometimes a Colt Agent in a belt holster.

The J-frame is a bit smaller than the Colt and fits the pocket better The Colt has an extra round and has a much smoother action. I seldom carry a heavier revolver because I prefer 1911s.

The #1 reason you carry the semi/wheel gun you do?

Cause 'a gun and a smile will get you more than just a smile' works for the good guys just as well as the bad guys.

Oh, my specific gun? Cause while a Glock is ugly, and a Glock is plastic, it works every time!

Glock 17 ( I have a few)

Every time I pull the trigger, the gun fires, the bullet goes where I sent it and it without fail, it feeds another round to repeat the above process....

Ruger LCP around town. I mostly carry it in a Cannon camera case on my belt people just assume its a PDA or something, can also drop it in a pocket. In the woods or on the boat DW .357 with 2.5" barrel screwed on.

In my case, the revolver that I carry is as close to utterly, foolproof reliable as any handgun ever made. It's an S&W Model 60 that has been used enough to shake out any manufacturing issues (it's 10 years old) and not so much that anything is remotely close to wearing out. I've shot it a great deal in the past year and a half, and can handle it competently at the distances that I'd expect to need to do so for self defense.

Since I'm not a gun nut by nature, and didn't want to own a collection, this and an equally reliable S&W .22 revolver give me what I need. I've tried automatics, and enjoy shooting at least some of them a lot (my husband's 1911 .45, for example), but in a self defense situation, I prefer the utter dumb reliability of my revolver. :-)
