The #1 reason you carry the semi/wheel gun you do

I carry a Detonics Combat Master because it fits in the pocket of my bag (man purse ). Seriously, if the pocket were bigger, I'd carry a Commander, and if the pocket were bigger still, I'd carry a Government Model.

I carry my LCR in .38+p because it's too handy NOT to take with me when I leave the house.
I just gave it a 75 round work out this morning. Silver tips, wad cutters, +p jhp, at 7 yards the target was pretty much dead.
It packs well, I shoot it well, and it brings enough punch to what I feel is adequate protection.

If I feel that a step up to .45 is prudent, then I bring along the G36. Plenty of thump, easy to pack, and just an absolute workhorse.

My EDC is a Kahr PM9. It is light, reliable, & very accurate @ SD distances. Recoil is not bad, so follow up shots are easy. It will not blind or permanently deafen me if I should ever have to fire inside the house or from my truck.

I don't carry on a regular basis but if I have to (for good reason) I'd choose one of these:

It all depends on the situation, and yes, I would carry the SW 41 or the CZ 52 because the first one never jams and can empty 10 or even 20 rounds faster than lightening accurately while the CZ can blast 8 very fast penetrative bullets anytime anywhere in any condition from mild to rough.

P7M8 -- because I never know when I'll be invited to a BBQ.

Or, a G19 if the weather is foul or there's a chance of dropping it off a cliff.

when it's summer in Texas, I pocket carry a Kahr PM9 ... when it cools off enough to wear an overshirt or jacket, I belt carry a Kimber UCII ... bought a j-frame to carry, but discovered I couldn't shoot it with enough accuracy to trust my life and the life of my wife to it, so it's a range toy now ... I love my 686+, but it weighs far too much for me to carry ...

The number one reason why I carry a revolver is reliability.

Not only for each time I pull the trigger, but also in likely SD situations.

Mostly a Smith 5906 or 4046 because they are all steel, full size, utterly reliable and great shooters. Sometimes a Sigma 9ve or 40ve or a CZ75BD. Most important to me is that the gun be full size.

LCP.

I picked .380 because it's the most powerful round you can get in a little pocket pistol. I picked a pocket pistol because, for reasons I won't get into here, concealability trumps all other concerns. I picked the LCP because Ruger gives you a hell of a lot of quality gun for the money.

G21: c and sf/rtf. Duty weapon of choice and I reload .45. A lot of it. Nothing says " Stop the threat." like .45 ACP head shots.

1) Kahr CW9. Concealibility, lightweight (19oz unloaded I believe), less than 1" thick, and reliability. This gun literally disappears and is barely noticeable even when carrying all day. The DA trigger is a butterly smooth long pull. 7+1 of 9mm hp should accomplish any intended purpose. Only downside is the front sight post is pinned, so no aftermarket night sights.

2) Ruger P345. Lightweight, thin (1.2"), dead reliable. However, this may be replaced by my sig p220 carry as I manage the Sig da/sa trigger better than the ruger da/sa trigger. That first DA trigger pull on the ruger is pretty atrocious even after switching out the factory recoil spring, for at me least.

I carry and Armscor. It is reliable for me and I trust it. Also, even though it is not a S&W M36 gun, which would be my preference, I don't worry about it getting beat up. It is comfortable in a Hunter 1100 holster cut down to fit snuggly. Most of the time I don't even know I'm carrying it. (Openly)

'79 Colt Commander/3" Ruger SP101 .357

accuracy/accuracy

In a good session, I can make a single hole with either of them @ ~20'.

It doesn't hurt that either is easy to carry and is, IMHO, a work of art.

And, of course, the sight of either one will cause a BG to turn pale, turn tail, and run :D.

Best,

Will

Some of my favorites:
S&W 610, 6 1/2" in a Bianchi X15 shoulder rig. Reliable and I shoot it very well (it's my pin gun).
CZ 97B in a UBG high ride. Comfortable all day and points naturally. also use a cross draw holster if I going to be driving a lot.
Kimber Stainless Gold Match (series 1) in Ross shoulder holster, comfortable, reliable and again, I am accurate with it.
S&W 442 in various holsters, when the big boys just aren't practical due to dress or activity.
I seem to have a preference for heavy steel but as often quoted, "a gun isn't to be comfortable it's to be comforting."

S&W 642.

I need carryability. I can't be happy carrying even a PPK or a P11. I packed a P32 for years, but I found I was ashamed to carry a mousegun. So now I pack a real gun that's virtually as carryable as my P32 was.

1] Five rounds that are as powerful as any normal person can handle from such a light gun. 2] Practical pocket carry. 3] Respectable firearm. I can't find anything better.
