I think that list is parts production and assembly entirely in the US.
Many of the big firearms manufacturers mentioned above import most of their parts then assemble in the US so they can stamp it made in US. Others have some guns made in the US and some made in foreign countries just like new balance does.

Many of the big firearms manufacturers mentioned above import most of their parts then assemble

I don't think so. I have tried to check to make sure the list has mainly companies that actually machine from raw materials and not pre-machined parts from other countries. But if you know of any on the list that have parts pre-machined elsewhere please let us know the names and we can check.

BTW, there are many like Springfield that are not on the list for that very reason.

Again, the stated criteria for the list (many times) has been handguns that are completely made in the USA. If anyone thinks some on the list do not fit then please list the company in question. Thanks.:)

PS: I just recently removed Iver Johnson from the list for that very reason.

Added: Most all of the companies on the list are semi's. That means that slides, frames, & barrels & assembly are the main components. Now I think springs etc. could be made anywhere.

IF YOU DISAGREE WITH ANY ON THE LIST NOW IS THE TIME TO SAY SO....THANKS.

The Springfield Armory of today IS NOT the Springfield Armory of old, don't let the name confuse you.

What are you saying? SA has gone thru changes since 1968 but I find no changes in their products or there service.

Sccy Industries.

Yeah, good addition. I just looked at one in the gun store the other day. Thanks.

I think what that person means is that the connection to the US military as an official Armory stopped in 1968. They indeed make fine products, I own an XD9, and their 1911's are very good. But the slides for the 1911's are made in Brazil and the XD's are made in Croatia. Nothing wrong with that, they just don't qualify for this list.

Also I take issue with this statement.
Do not perpetuate the myth/lie that Springfield is a GOOD American company.
My XD is clearly marked made in Croatia. I knew that before I purchased. And it is no secret they make some of their 1911 parts in Brazil....so I don't think there is a lie. The new Springfield Armory makes good guns and apparently gives good customer service.

I did not start this list to bash guns not made in America. I have still got my eye on a Glock 21, but it is good to know which guns are American made. It still give me pleasure to purchase an American made gun, even if I don't always follow that rule. My last purchase 5 mo. ago was a new Ruger P90.

Thanks

Thanks to all that helped add names to the list so far. Special thanks to mrt949 and ActivShootr for supplying lots of names.:)

Dan Wesson is a division of CZ but all pistols bearing the Wesson name are U.S. made.

Also I believe Century Intl. is an importer and not a manufacturer.

Seecamp is just Seecamp.

Thompson Center is a division of &W.

Yes, I understand about Dan wesson part of CZ, but it still qualifies.

Not sure what you mean by these two?
Seecamp is just Seecamp.
Thompson Center is a division of &W.

Do you think they should be on the list or not?

Also I believe Century Intl. is an importer and not a manufacturer.

I agree. Century should be off the list. I tried to get info on each name but I missed that one. Thanks.

Anyway, thanks Tipco for help finding one that should not be on the list.

Anyone that can help review the list is appreciated. I am now trying to go back over the list to look for qualifications. I do initially go by what a member recommends, but then I try to go gather information from company sites and even gun forums to verify they do make major parts & assembly on site in the USA.

Certain SIG models are produced in their entirety in New Hampshire.
Rock River still trickles out a (very) few....
Pistol Dynamics and Clark and Cylinder & Slide all are manufacturers.

Seecamp made milford ct.

The name of the company is L.W. Seecamp Co. and not "Seecamp made milford ct."

Thompson Center qualifies but is currently owned by Smith and Wesson.

Sig
I have looked at Sig several times. I agree it appears they do make some complete models at the Exeter plant, but I cannot find exactly which models. If we know the exact models then we could list them as we did with Dan Wesson/CZ. I will continue to research.

I will add Rock River & Cylinder & slide as custom makers of 1911's.

Thanks

The name of the company is L.W. Seecamp Co. and not "Seecamp made milford ct."

I will correct the list.

Thanks

A word about Sig

WESHOOT2,

I knew when we started this list we would have some companies that would be hard to categorize....I think Sig is one. They do have a plant in Exeter NH that employees 280 people, and they call that plant Sig USA. No problem, they have all the right to do so. But I have noticed that companies are fairly accurate about their manufacturing, and Sig just does not clearly say that the guns they make (assemble) are made from parts that are completely machined on site. Still not sure, but I know they make complete pistols at Exeter, but I suspect they use main components made in their European plants.

Maybe we should have a list sometime of companies that are foreign but have assembly plants in the USA. Then Sig & Springfield (1911) would be on the list. Then the last list of completely foreign made would be easy by elimination.

Again, nothing wrong with the foreign made, I own some myself. Just trying to understand the world of pistol manufacturing.:)
