Short List Of American Made

This one is lame and I've not sure if you've covered this before, but Rock River Arms makes "handgun" versions of their AR rifles. Short barrel, no stock (but still have the buffer spring tube) and are marked and sold as handguns. (important because of the barrel length)

RRA is located in Illinois and builds their stuff in-house.

I know they've made mid to high-end 1911's as well, but they may be out of that game at the moment.

So if they still make 1911's, add them. And if you'll allow the silly "handgun" AR-15's, they do offer them right now.

(now, if you HAVE addressed these types of "handguns", I won't feel bad... this thread is running multiple pages and I'm not sifting through all of it! :)

Yeah, we had them on and off the list. The last time I remember reading a company statement that they would no longer offer the 1911, but I might have missed the handgun version of the AR. I will look again. Thanks.

Sevens,

well Rock River does produce the LAR pistol in .223 & 9mm. They call it a pistol so I will put it on the list with some notation. It's not what you would call the normal pistol, but evidently it meets the definition.

Thanks again.

PS: Walk around with a LAR in a holster and you will probably get a quick visit from your local SWAT team.:D

Barrett comes to mind. http://www.barrettrifles.com/. And here's a quote from Sig Sauer "The P229® was the first pistol to be manufactured in Exeter, New Hampshire. Available in 9mm, .40 S&W and .357 SIG." I'm pretty sure the 1911s and the polymer guns are made in NH as well but I don't know for sure.

Then I looked up licensed manufacturers/exporters on ATF Online and downloaded the 2007 PDF. Sample:

Barrett.....we are limiting to pistols.

Sig Sauer, yes I have been looking at Sig closely, but it is still hard to tell if they actually machine all of the parts at the Exeter factory. I think the slides might still be made in Europe. I know this is the case with FN USA. I will call Sig directly tomorrow and see If I can better more info.

As far as the ATF list. That will take a while. A lot are already on the list, and some can be immediately taken off as not completely USA made. And some are just rifles. I will work on this.

Thanks

5Wire, I could find only one possible addition out of the long ATF list you gave. This list was generated by companies or people that dealt in firearms.

General breakdown
-already on my list
-Foreign
-Rifles
-Pawn Shops
-Gun Stores
-Gun Smiths
-Gun sub Assemblies
-Muzzle loaders

Out of the long list I only found Briley Manufacturing Inc. (1911) to be one that we could add.

Still looking at Sig, but not much time today.
