One Handgun - Forever?

Glock 26. I have +2 mag extensions which allow plenty of capacity, the parts are everywhere, 9mm is cheap to practice with but a decent to good manstopper with quality JHP ammo, and I can do all gunsmithing myself because it's a Glock.

Did I mention mine has been 100% reliable through thousands of rounds? :D

This one, a WIlson Combat BWC!! Hands down the finest weapon I own...

I don't have it yet, just got it ordered..but I would have to go with my Ed Brown Special Forces if I only got to have 1 gun forever.

I love my berettas, but I wouldn't give up the Brown for one of them.

Thank goodness we don't have to only own one in this great land, it was sad just thinking about it..:(

I think I'd go with my Ruger MK3 Target Competition 22. It's the most accurate handgun I own and the cheapest to shoot by a mile.

For carry, I guess I'll take my chances with pepper spray, two fists, running shoes, and a folding knife.

For home defense and hunting, I'll use my 870s.

My full-size XDm .40s&w. I can use it for anything. Hunting and HD definitely. Its a little big for CC but I think I can pull it off. It never fails and always hits where aimed.

The only gun I would rather have is a 10mm in the XDm platform. Ohh my! Glock who?

Love my 1911s, and can build one from the frame up so no smith needed. However with the criteria specified, I would have to keep my DW pistol pack for all purpose. 4 barrels and more ammo choices. 38/357

The venerable Ruger KGP-141, 4" stainless lug barrel six-shot .357 Magnum with the Hogue finger groove monogrip and a set of Trijicon replacement sights. I debated on the 3" but I'd prefer the four, all things being equal.

Kozak6 - If you hate these posts, pass it by. That said, you seem to have put a lot of thought into your answer.

My main reason for the OP was to find the most durable, reliable, and practical gun out there. I did not want to use kooky apocalypse scenarios, so I set constraints and assumptions that would get me the info I wanted.
It has to do with how you phrased the question.
"what one handgun would I keep from my collection?"
is asking me to pick the 50+ handguns to get rid of. not a happy thought.
"what one handgun from my collection would I suggest somebody buy if they only wanted one gun?"
is a much more appealing topic;):D

Love all my guns, but if I had to pick one and only one it'd be my 3" SP-101. Small enough to conceal, large enough to be manageable with magnum loads, and for bonus points it's got a fantastic buttery-smooth trigger.

I'd cry a lot over having to give up my other guns though.

I find some of the original "assumptions" to be invalid in my case since I'm never going to use a handgun to hunt for survival purposes.

However, since for the purposes of this game I'm required to pick from my existing "collection", it would have to be my S&W Model 66 2.5" revolver. Best gun I've ever owned and wish I had another one like it.
