One Handgun - Forever?

A .357/.38 platform revolver. The versatility of the loadings would allow it to fill many roles. For me, my 2-1/2" S&W Mod 66 would fill that role quite nicely.

If "garnering ammo" isn't a consideration, does that mean the cost of ammo isn't a consideration? If it isn't a consideration, I'd say my model 10. If cost of ammo is a consideration, then my S&W 22A.

Only one??? I think I'd shoot myself ... but if I had to pick, it would be my Kimber UCII ... I'd rather keep my 4-inch 686+, but it weighs too much for me to carry ... the 1911 is easy to holster, accurate as I can shoot it and easy to maintain ... hey, can't I have two?

OK, wait, I changed my mind ... it's the 686+, for sure ... or should it be the Springer XDm-9? or .... I hate these threads ...

It's an easy call and I could be fine with only one handgun given the choice to only have one was mine and mine alone. You, Joe down the street or BO tells me I can only have one and we'll have us a right unfriendly discussion.

Stainless Ruger SA in .357 or .45c.

Only one? My Python -- because it has a 4" barrel and is stainless. My Smith model 19 has a 6" barrel which is less convenient, and is blued.

However, I find my Ruger Mark II nearly as useful... it's a close call.

I only own two handguns now, a Glock 21 and a S&W Model 10. The S&W Model 10 is for the girls to use as they're not "into" guns, its simple and reliable.

But for me its the Glock 21 hands down, I just shoot no other handgun better.

Glock 20! This gun is a two in one (-P = 40 S&W). You could then use conversion barrel to shot 40 S&W and 357 Sig.

A forever gun needs to be many things:

First, it needs to be Simple (Revolver) - it then needs to be ...

Second, it needs to be Powerful (revolver in .357 or .44) - and if you want to carry then ...

3) Concealable (.357 J-frame)

That's it in my opinion. That brings me to my S&W .357 640-1 hammerless 5 shot with a 2" barrel, which I carry often. Otherwise, I'd go with a 4-6" barrel .357. Also, no internal lock or any other mechanisms that can screw things up.

I'm thinking my 4" S&W M25 (.45LC) or maybe my 4" M57 (.41 Mag). I can handload either one up or down. It's not the easiest thing to conceal, although I do so every winter.

Another choice would be a Commander sized 1911. I carry one every day, so that is not an issue. It is not as powerful a hunting round, but can be loaded up to .45 Super, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Tough question. With all my choices of what I have, it would be down to the Blackhawk .45 or the Anaconda .44 mag. The Blackhawk can handle a more powerful load, but the Anaconda has the DA advantage and is quicker to reload for SD. Can't hardly conceal either one, so open carry. For me I think it would be the Anaconda.
