Nightstand Gun

My nightstand gun is my EDC, a Kimber Ultra CDP in .45 ACP. It goes from my belt holster onto the nightstand when I go to bed.

not a great pic,but a Smith and Wesson M&P .40.

the guns i currently have by my nitestand are. taurus pt-145, 9mm taurus 709 slim, and my trusty ol amt 380 backup. these are also my carry guns during the daytime. not all at once, usually 1 at a time depending where i'm going and what i'm wearing. the amt 380 has gotten the most use these last 20 years just because it's so darn small and cute. oh and because it works.

Next to my bed i have more than one handgun. There is always a Browning with a 20 shot mag but i like odd weapons for home defence.

At the moment its a norinco 213 in 9mm. Its a pistol my friends laugh at but i find it reliable.

I bought the gun to do testing for my 9mm reloads so i dont have to put my other guns in harms way and was very suprised at how reliable it is.

This is the first time im openly admitting to owning it

RIA tactical stays beside the bed. If I can't stop it with 9 rounds of JHP .45 I am in a world of trouble.

As for the noise debate, middle of the night, with an intruder, I am pretty sure I would have enough adrenalin pumping I wouldn't notice how loud anything was till after it was over.

Of all of the handguns that I own, my preferred night stand gun is a S&W 9VE Sigma in 9mm. I shoot it on a regular basis, and it works well for me. I don't like a light trigger for my carry or night stand guns, so the Sigma fits my needs well.

Don't really have a nightstand. Whatever I carried that day goes under my pillow for the night. Tonight it will be a S&W J frame loaded with Federal 357B 125gr JHP. Next to the bed will be a Maglite and six loaded speed loaders. Under the bed is a Mossberg.

Glock 20

No reason to be limited by size or capacity.

I believe in using as few guns as possible for self-defense. It's just less to think about in a high stress situation. I almost never switch self-defense guns. I have two guns for protection (Glock 20 and Kel-Tec 3AT) and all the others are for fun. Unless some there is an unforeseen advance in technology these two pistols will be my SD guns for decades.

MINES a Glock 21 45 no safety with night sights. Also I live in the country we have bears that like to visit from time to time so I have a Saiga 308 at the bedroom door great bear meds.:D:D

Okay okay, you guys make me feel SO normal. Remington 870 12 gauge, now bolted in my closet, cuz I'm one of those crazy sleepwalkers :D. I have a nightstand but it's filled with other crap and way too accessible for me. And I don't think the shotgun would fit.

My nightstand gun is the same gun I carry every day.

This very second, an XD9. In the past, it's been a CZ-75 or a 1911 Commander, or an SP-101.

It's ALWAYS been the gun that I have most recently taken to the range to practice with. That way I know it works and shoots exactly how I remember from the last shooting session.

I've never understood why people have specific "night stand" guns.... if any of my guns are good for SD, they're fine to have there near the bed. The only exception would maybe a shotgun sitting right inside my closet and/or the AR under the bed.

The nice thing about a "night stand" gun is that concealability is not a concern. You can buy the biggest thing you want with any capacity magazine and you can put a light on it without worrying about it fitting into a holster.
