I'm SO SICK of this illegal alien situation!

You know what I'm SO SICK of? Xenophobia. Do we need to strengthen border security? Yes. Do we need an official language, seize Mexican flags, require all businesses and schools to use nothing but English? No, not even a little bit.

Speak for yourself. Did you ever consider the fact that maybe if we didn't bed so much to the will of a minority that maybe so many illegal hispanics wouldn't come here.

English is the international language and hte unofficial language of this country. There is NO good reason why we shouldn't make it official.

I for one am tired of pressing 1.

With the possible exception

...of you full-blooded Native Americans (Injuns, is what we call 'em, but you know what I mean.), every single one of the people debating this topic are products of immigrants...did you all forget that?

I'm gonna get flamed up one side and back down the other for this, but dig it:

Let 'em all in. I don't care how many want in, give it to 'em. No room? Check out Montana, folks. Pretty empty up there. Make it easier to be a US citizen than it is to get beer at a bar. Get 'em all Social Security numbers, and start taxing them. Taxes make this country go 'round, the more we can collect the better.

Don't wanna read Spanish signs? Shop somewhere else. I worked at a major auto parts retailer. My xenophobic coworkers refused to help Spanish-speaking immigrants. I got our company to send me a book on auto-parts slang. I outsold a lot of people...because of a little effort. Money makes the world get up every day. Sunday afternoons saw my coworkers with an empty counter in front of them, and my bay had every Tomas, Ricardo, and Hector in front of me, fattening that commission check.

Drop the high and mighty act, and wake up. Each immigrant is a check with your name on it...you just have to figure out how to cash it.

Easily the dumbest statement I've seen posted in a long time.

I'm really glad you are so wiling to accomodate those who have broken the law. And all for a little bump in commission. That pretty much tells me everything I need to know about you.

We need harsh Immigration laws!!

Harsh you say!!!! 1. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, and all government business will be conducted in our language.
2. Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote, no matter how long they are here.
3. Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.
4. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, nor any other government assistance programs.
5. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
6. If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay, BUT options will be restricted. You are not allowed to own waterfront property. That property is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.
7. Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign flag, no political organizing, no "bad-mouthing" our president or his policies. If you do you will be sent home.
8. If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail.
Harsh, you say ?...

The above laws happen to be the immigration laws of " MEXICO " !

Stage, if you can't look at things economically, you'll never flourish under a capitalist system. I didn't write the rules, I just play the game. Every person is a potential customer in our system.

I advocate making legal citizenship easier, if you read my post. However, I'm not the INS. Thus, if illegal immigrants come to my employer, my options are limited. Additionally, I had no way of determining who was illegal and who was legal...best to just treat everyone politely and get them what they need. If learning some Espanol terms for 'camshaft' made their lives easier and my check bigger, then I was all about that.

Sorry you can't see eye to eye with me on that.

"If learning some Espanol terms for 'camshaft' made their lives easier and my check bigger, then I was all about that."

i believe you on the making your check bigger part, but if learning THIER language didnt put more money in your pocket, would you be doing it anyways, to "make thier lives easier"?

Attitudes like that are a big part of the problem. As long as a few extra bucks get put in your pocket, you dont care how they got here, or what they do once they get here.

What is the espanol term for "screwjob" because thats what the average American taxpayer is suffering thru at the hands of millions of ILLEGALS and people who support thier "rights".

You forgot to add this little tidbit to your comment about xenophobia!

Very good point TX35. Try running around in Mexico with out an I.D. and or a pass port and see what happens. These employers who defend illegal immigration will change their song if and when we start patronizing undocumented companies. Allowing illegals to skirt the laws that we are expected to follow is a form of discrimination. The same goes for giving them free health care, etc that we are forced to pay for. Besides, can anyone tell me of any countries that I can enter in an illegal manor and then get the free services illigals get here in the U.S?

85% of our manufacturing base is gone. After the "service economy" bleeds the wealth out of this country, what are they, and we, going to do to make a living? No wonder Montana has plenty of room, all the illegals are in Ga., or so it appears.

We are build a fine 3th world, outsourcing, manufacturing along with skills going to other countries while we import poor people illegally who have less then a 8th grade education and their children dropping out of school at a rate of over 50%, not good folks. The wealthy are doing great but the future does not look good for America, just my opinion.

only America could have a Government that 98% of the politions are lawyers and they don't know the meaning of the word ILLEGAL, but when it come to taking something away from their own people they understand everything

Very good point, old 12 gauge.

The fact that our manufacturing jobs are being outsourced has nothing to do with illegal immigration. Moving jobs overseas is something companies do to save money. This is called 'free market'. If labor is cheaper somewhere else, use it. I have suggested at least letting these people have Social Security numbers and citizenship, so when they are here, we can tax their earnings. The disappearing manufacturing work really is a separate issue.

Snoopy: As far as fattening my check and helping my customers at the time: I explained to folks how to attempt the particular automotive task they were about to tackle. I took time to explain differences in products and price levels, and I took care of their warranty issues after the sale. To some degree, I did care for my customers. I did also care about fattening my paycheck. Perhaps I should have demanded some form of valid US id of all Spanish-speaking customers before helping them? Is that what you're suggesting? Because that sounds like a really bad idea. I didn't hire these people...I simply sold them things.

You can go ahead and hate away, but the fact remains: There's illegals here. Am I supposed to personally round up each one and make his life hell until he goes home? I don't think so. Like I said...my grandfather came over on a boat. It's not my place to tell anyone to go home. Even if all my ancestors were natives to this place, we have INS. The fact they are not doing their job isn't my baby.

Don't believe I said it had anything to do with illegal immigration however the state of our country is tied to all factors including uncontrolled immigration, less educated people with a growing welfare rolls and less manufacturing jobs for those people. Companies move jobs to make more money not to save money, it's called greed. The idea you believe we have "free market"/free trade tells me you watch too much of FOX News.

I was referring more to Badbob's comment than your's, wingman. I hate FOX news...I don't believe we do have a free market. I was referencing the economic theory of specialization of labor, more than anything else. If someone else can do it cheaper, then they will...that's the beauty of capitalism. It always finds equilibrium over time.

Exactly govmule84. Just think of how much money we would save if we moved U.S. government jobs overseas.........or hired illegals to do replace the gov. jobs held by U.S. citizens. Oh wait, Oregon is already doing just that.

From what I have read I think people have their minds made up on where they stand for or against.

The anti immigration side shows the ugly effects of immigration, and the legality without really realizing that a lot of this has happened with each wave of immigrants. Furthermore we are a country made up of immigrants.

The pro immigrant argument seems to not touch on the legality of border jumpers or their drain on our scociaty, but hey it has happened in the past it must be ok. And we are all Americans free country an all that.... so come on already.

There have always been backlashes against large groups of immigrants legal or not. My Irish ancestors bore the brunt as did the Chinese and the Germans.

I am on the Send them home and let them come back legally side of the argument.

My real problem is that the .Gov is selectively enforcing laws and completely out of touch with what their constituents expect of them.
My other problem is that I can't see any way this is going to end well.

Mike

"You can go ahead and hate away"

Here we go again. Whos hating?

I dont hate anyone, dont go lumping me in with the Tim Hardaways of the world.

Anyone who doesnt support ILLEGAL immigrants is a hater, a racist or a bigot? Give me a break.

Speaking of Tim Hardaway, i wonder how many people who are just fine with millions of ILLEGALS being in the country, would agree with him when it comes to gays?

While I have a problem with hiring illegal aliens, I see nothing wrong with them spending their money with me.

Better the money stay here than be send to another country.
