Do you have a gun that is commonly thought of as crap?

Do you have a gun that people on line often post that it is a piece of crap but you f

I have a Taurus 617 2" .357 Magnum revolver that has given me excellent service. In 2 years I have fired 2,500 + rounds of assorted 38 special +P +P+ and .357 magnum ammo through it without a problem.

Would I be willing to take the Taurus crap-shoot again? NO. I'm at a point in my life I see no need to take on any additional chance of frustration.

I had a sw9ve. I loved every bit of that gun. I traded it to my father because he loved alot more. He gave me a G27 for it. That's love there. I will own a sw40ve here soon. I kick myself everytime I spend money that could have been saved for it.

Have an old Hi-Standard .22 Semi-auto that grandad left me from when he was young. Most would say they aren't top of the line, but the thing shoots great and honestly never misses a beat regardless of ammo.

Sentinel snubbie 22lr made by Hi Standard. Yeah, it's alluminum, light, simple construction. Steel cylinder and barrel. Good trigger pull, accurate, nine shots. Carried 100 rounds (two boxes) of ammo with no sweat.
I carried it for years as my survival gun in a shoulder holster while flying jet fighters for USAF, also carried it in the B-52 as pilot. (didn't carry it in combat, carried a S&W Combat Masterpiece .38spcl then, issued).

It was great for small game, and I hunted with it also. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a deer with it in a survival situation. I have dispatched deer and cattle with it. Great gun!

Heritage Rough Rider 22LR/22Mag Accurate, fun and reliable!!!
Walther P22 Ditto, Ditto, Ditto!!!
Taurus Judge Public Defender Poly. Surprisingly accurate with 45 LC ammo. Tight, and accurate pattern within 10 yds with Winchester PDX1 ammo. High density pattern with # 71/2 "snake" load to 10 feet. Has been 100% reliable!
Of course a Mak, East German model, and a P-64.
And for the It's got to cost at least $500 or it is not a good pocket pistol crowd, an Elsie Pea! Nearing 1000 100 % reliable rounds of various ammo.

I have the same gun. It's titanium. I don't know if yours is also. It's been a great gun, and my favorite .357 to fire. Better than my Ruger Security Six (and more accurate).

I'm sure several people on the board think that ANY Taurus fits the definition of a "crap" gun, but I've had nothing but great experiences with several of them. The one and only time I needed to call Customer Service was as good as any. There was nothing wrong with the gun - I just needed to ask a question on something I couldn't find in the manual.

FWIW, my idea of a crap gun is anything you aren't supposed to dry-fire, including older Smith and Wesson's with the firing pin on the hammer.

I had a Sw40VE but traded it for a G23. I liked the Sw but really only used it as a stepping stone until I got a G23. I want a G22 but may just end up getting a couple 15 rd mags and get the cover thing... the name of it escapes me right now.

Oh, I also have a Taurus PT-22 and a Gen 1 Taurus Millenium 9mm.
The PT-22 suffers greatly from light strikes and I have yet to fire my Taurus 9mm. I plan on going to the range later next week though.

Try CCI mini-mags

I tried EVERY 22lr round I could find, including CCI's, it is the firing pin. I have since lubed the crap out of the channel and will test it again this coming week. Wish me luck. If it still sucks, I will be trading it for something else, just don't know what yet.

I have a SW40VE that I keep hearing was a junk gun. Strange that mine seems to be pretty darn reliable. I did send it in to get a trigger job but I liked it even before that. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Also have a Judge. Did have some trouble with the gun that required work be done but it's fun to shoot and I have it loaded right here for defense.

well .. I have two Taurus revolvers, an 85 which has served with distinction and no failures for 15 years or so (it was my first handgun purchase) and a 617 which has been a delight to own, but only after $85 spent with a 'smith to smooth the gritty trigger and open the cylinder-barrel gap ...

I have Taurus mode 65 in 327 Federa; it shoots fine now but the cylinder chambers were so rough that when I rented the finnishing reamer for my 32mag Ruger Sp101 I finnished the Taurus so extractions are easier now.

I have Ruger 22/45 bull barrel SS which had front sight installed out of aligment; I had to streighten it up by filling the base on one side. When I aim before the fixed I tought my eyes are going south.

I have an Astra A-100 9mm, I've had two A-80's too, and all of them were totally reliable, and reasonably accurate. The A-100 came with 3 mags, in nearly mint condition, for $279, shipped. It was so cheap because it had "some light rust" on the slide and frame that turned out to be some sort of dried up lube or polish that had been loaded up inside the slide, and had sprayed all over the gun when it was fired. I took the gun totally apart, cleaned it, and had basically a new in the box gun.

Other than Astra being out of business, I see no drawbacks in this gun at all, same goes for my Astra A-75, a great little gun.

dod you mean "oh crap?"

I've owned a Taurus PT22 for at least fifteen years.
I originally bought it, even after some (before-the-'net) research, because I'd met a pair of undercovers wearing them as backups.
The only mods they'd both done was a wee bit of dehorning around the safety.

Still works for me (in a similar role).

I don't think it is thought of as a P.O.S. but I have a Beretta model 84 that beats itself up when shooting it. I bought it late 70's early 80's. Nice gun, came with 3 13 round mags, but after you shoot it you can barley get it apart. You have to remove the slide with a hammer. It was sent back to
Beretta twice, checked by local gunsmiths in my area, new springs were put in it. From the information I have seen I am the only person that has ever had this problem. Gun sits in the safe, I don't know what else to do to it.

Do you have a gun that is commonly thought of as crap?

I have a West Hurley AO 1911 that was $300 out the door. All I've done is a feed ramp polish and a new mag. It's reliability is 100% and I'll stack it up against anybody's $1500 whiz bang wonder gun in that respect.

I own a Taurus PT709 which is commonly reported as a POS ...

and mine just happens to be a POS ... numerous failure to fires no matter how clean I get it. Even had the firing pin replaced to no avail

My other 3 Taurus pistols are excellent though.

I've got a Hi-Point C-9, and a Sigma SW9VE (Sigma) that work like a Singer sewing machine. I've owned a Kel-Tec P-11, and several Taurus revolvers over the years. They worked fine.

Erma/Excam RX22 .22 (POS), Sterling .22 (POS), Hi Point C9 (works great), SW40VE (works great), Taurus revolver (needed work, works OK), Liberator pistol (only shot it 6 times with mouse phart round ball loads, worked as advertized).

Kahr - has been reviled, mocked, disparaged, disgraced and dismissed by more than a few folks, yet I’ve been totally satisfied with my P9.
