Your Favorite Wheelgun

Hard to choose between my S&W 6" 686 357 Mag and my S&W 6.5" 629 44 Mag. A 686 was the 1st handgun I have ever owned so there is a sentimental edge towards the 357.

686

Gotta be a 686.

Had one 10 years ago. Regretted selling it many times.
Now, I have purchased another, only with a 2 1/2 inch barrel.

Theres just something about the action on these.....cl, click BOOM!

....and if they ain't smooth as glass when you get 'em, they can be made that way by most any competent gunsmith.

Favorite, but not to carry

Below are two of my favorite Colt SAA .45 Colts, in my favorite rig:

Oh well, I can't seem to get the pic of these beauties to post.

After several range sessions I have to admit I'm pretty impressed with my new Taurus 650 CIA. I've only owned four other revolvers (3 Taurus & 1 S&W) but the CIA is by far my favorite.

My favorite wheelgun .......

..... depends on what barrel length we are talking about. In my stable of guns my favorite wheelgun in each length is listed below:

6.5" - Taurus Model 44 -- a stainless .44 Magnum with a ported barrel

6" - Colt King Cobra -- a stainless .357 Magnum (unique in that it was one of the few made with a ported Python barrel)

5.5" - Smith and Wesson U.S. Service Hand Ejector Model of 1917 (Commercial Model) -- .45ACP D.A. revolver

5" - none yet for this length (I anticipate a S&W Model 625 in .45ACP filling this hole in the future)

4" - Smith and Wesson Model 686-1 -- a stainless .357 Magnum

3" - Smith and Wesson (Lew Horton) Model 66-5 -- stainless .357 Magnum

2.5" - Taurus Model 415 -- stainless 41 Magnum with ported barrel

2" - Taurus Model 85CH -- .38 Special (a true snubbie)

Being a charter member of the old goat club, I'm gonna go for the SW M19 and M28.......depends if you are walking or riding.LOL

EOTP, I also have a 3" barreled 66. This is my favorite revolver with out a doubt. It has the best balance in my hands any way, of anything else I've held. I think Horton produced 2 runs of these Smiths. I bought mine 15 or so years ago. It was one of 500 I think. About 5 years ago I saw an add for the revolver with the fancy grips. I believe these were sold as one in 300. Horton has also produced 3" Smiths in other frame sizes over the years. I've always wanted the .44 mag with the rounded butt.
I have packed my Smith for many miles while hunting and prospecting. I do think you will enjoy your new toy.
Good luck and safe shooting....

ok I just picked up a new favorite wheel gun with 2 shoulder holsters and a red dot scope.......scope not pictured yet. for a measley $325.00 so yea its my new favorite.

My favorite

It's a S&W 686P, seven rounds zylinder, 5'' barrel and half underlug.
However, I do not argue about another model or brand.
