Which .22 handgun is your favorite plinker?

I have a Browning buckmark and I shoot more accuratly than any of my other pistols. I will never part with it either.:)

Of all the .22s I own, a simple 4" S&W 22A is the favorite plinker. I stopped counting bulk packs at around 85,000 rounds.

Just to be different

Dan Wesson 722, tho' I've taken the red dot off it for balance improvement.

Then of course for reaching out abit farther...

My MGM match barrel.

A 5½" Old Model Single Six followed closely by a USFA 12/22, an older K-22 and a Ciener conversion on a Kimber 1911.

I can't pick just one.. maybe two?

I couldn't pick just one.. I have to choose the two guns pictured below. Plinking with these guns give me pretty close grip/feel to their larger brothers.. It's a blast shooting 400-500 rounds of .22lr through these guns.

The other interesting fact is that these two guns are at opposite ends of the spectrum on 'plinking accuracy' (err, and cost). The Sig Mosquito can make a 12 oz. can dance at 25 yds easily, The Beretta 87T can hit the punch out a 'smiley face' on the can at 25 yds.

Although the Sig Mosquito is no where near the quality and accuracy of my 87T, the Sport version pictured has a longer barrel and sight radius, and is surprisingly accurate for an affordable plinker. Plus it looks and feels like a defensive combat styled gun. (good practice for my 9mm Sig)

Both are a hoot to shoot! They both go bang when I pull the trigger! :)

I hsve been trying to decide this very dilema. I just reviewed my long barrel 22 pistols 6 inches and over here http://dayattherange.com

I think my MKII 10in barrel edges my 617 out by a smudge. After 30 years of shooting I never though I would never put a semi-auto over one of my revolvers.

CZ 75B w/Kadet kit-Brings a smile to my face every time I shoot it. Super accurate with whatever cheap plated ammo I can find, never a feed or extraction issue. Loading my 3 mags sucks for sure though, I have to admit.

I'd have to say this Ruger Mark II is my favorite. My Mark I rates a close second for it's lighter weight, but the accuracy of this one overshadows it's extra bulk.

1. Ruger MkII Target
2. S&W M-18

If I'm taking a centerfire semi to the range, the MkII goes along. If I'm taking a CF revo, the M-18. Since I shoot 1911s more than anything, the Ruger gets used more than the S&W, by about a 3 to 1 ratio. Need to change that :)

Above all, I prefer my ol' H&R 676 convertible with the 7.5" barrel. It's dead on accurate with either cylinder. I have an old Whitney Wolverine that's a blast, too, but it doesn't have the feel of a revolver. To me, semi-auto .22s feel like they're spitting, rather than shooting.

Ruger Mark III Hunter, but my Ruger Single Six (bought new in 1974) is lots of fun too, and I like the sights even better than the Mark III.

Ok I'm just going to say it; I have a S&W model 22a (with 7" barrel) and its a fun (and inexpensive) plinker. I put a true-Glo red dot scope on it for added fun. I know it doesn't compare (in value) to many of the 22's mentioned in this post, but a fun gun, and worthy of mention.

Ok. I got a bunch. Love em all. Bearcat,Single Six Flatgate,S&W 2206,High Standard H-B, 1937 Colt ACE, & more but my favorite is the 2nd issue Colt Match Target short model. That said my Ruger Mk III 678 Hunter is the closest "new gun" to shoot with it. My 14 yr old girl always grabs that Colt to shoot against me out back. I even beet her once with the Mk III.
I don't have a S&W 41 or 617...yet!
Just a note: My Stevens Model 10 single shot is a lot of fun so don't count them out...if you can find one.

My twenty year old six shot/4" barrel 617 with a red dot sight on it is my favorite. Punches one hole shots if I don't get the shakes too bad.:D
