What's Your "Go To War" Pistol?

DOUBLE TAP!!! 2 rounds of .45 1 for the guy tryin to kill me then 1 for myself when his buddies come:eek: lo just kiddin:p...if only 1 gun that i already own? id have to go with my G23 (gen 3) .40cal been flawless!! i bank my life and my families life on it:)

Well, I'd have to choose either my CZ 75 9mm or my Sig P228 9mm in this situation, which is a tough call. My DW 1911 is great, but 8rd capacity is a bit of a drawback. And I wouldn't want to risk harming my cherry S&W 19-4 .357, plus that's a six shooter anyway.

The CZ has a slightly longer barrel and 16 round capacity. But the trigger is mediocre at best.

The Sig is a bit shorter and stouter, but I think slightly wider (barely). While factory mags are only 13 round, Mec-Gar makes 15 rounders that work just fine (as they should, since factory Sig mags are stamped "Made in Italy by Mec-Gar"). Plus Sig has Trijicon night sights and the trigger, oh oh oh that trigger. And I think the decocker would be a plus in "going to war." So I think I'd have to go with my 228.

However, having "gone to war" a few years ago (deployment to Iraq), I would seriously question the futility of only going in armed with a pistol, which would be similar to taking a kitchen knife to go fight a Roman legionnare armed with his gladius and shield and pike... Just saying.

I do agree that 9 mm is probably not the best caliber when it comes to a face to face fight ... but, except if you're ready to carry your own ammo bag, I would stick with 9 X 19 that you can find plenty on every battle field in this crazy world.

I own five pistols...

The 1860 Army cap n ball and Jukar muzzleloader are out.

The Sig Trailside is too small.

The GP100 only has 6 rounds at hand

So, it's down to my CZ75b in 40cal. And that doesn't break my heart at all:D

I think the cap and ball might be all that's left in our hands by the time we have "go to war" if it ever come to that.

It's absurd to think of an army of fat old men with pistols in God can't imagine what kind of war that would be. I suppose we could all give it up like Jim Bowie emptying our favorite weapons from our armchairs before succombing heroically beneath a swarm of bayonets.

All I will say is that an easily concealed pistol can be of great comfort on a military base with a known problem of insurgent infiltration and an uncaring military structure that wants you either unarmed, or if you have a weapon to carry it unloaded.

Its a toss up between my Beretta 92fs centurion and my G17. I think I might grab the G17 first sense I have tons of mags and its lighter even though I shoot my Beretta more accurate.

While this idea would have been ridiculed and have one ostracized 20 years ago, sadly what you state has weight to it today.

My ccw gun..a Kimber Pro CDP II (13 years old). It always goes bang, I can hit what I aim at with it, and I believe it's as reliable a stopper today as it was 100 years ago.. Old guy, old school. :)
