What's Your "Go To War" Pistol?

Having grown up hunting, a slingshot and a pocketfull of lead shot would be a much better weapon than an airsoft toy. Im not trying to flame, I actually thought you were joking though. Even a Red Rider bb gun would be better than an airsoft "gun".
Not that any of this is really pertinent.
During this "war" you'd probably already be ushered off to a fema camp.

We have a teenager on the forum now???

Hey, I put in my real birthdate and it let me proceed, and I think I have a certain element to offer to TFL, just need to find out what it is.:)

Airsoft pistol, Higher rate of fire, easier to reload, no hopper to worry about, concealable, and harder to take from me.

BB gun- slow rate of fire, a pain to load, a hopper that is to be worried about, and easy to snatch, all for power, which is still not significant.

And I had a slingshot, but returned it when it hurt me. (long story)

9mm Sig p226. I own one and to be honest if I could take any pistol on earth to war it would probably be the one. Id consider a glock 17 or a glock 21 gen 4, but Id still probably go with the p226 because you can safely carry one in the chamber all the time.

Not so sure id wanna be crawling and rolling around on the ground all the time with a loaded glock on my hip.

The last time I was in combat I carried an M249 SAW, so hopefully the pistol would be my secondary.

My HK 45c. If the enemy is that close and I am down to my pistol, I want the 45 ACP, if FMJ is likely to be what I am carrying. If I can still have hollowpoints then 9, 40, or 45 will do.

I've yet to see my 45c choke yet no matter how dirty it has gotten. That and the sights are very easy to pick up for me and if I do my part it puts the rouns right on target and the recoil is easy-peasy.

I will say that I think in today's age you'd probably be more hard pressed to find a completely unreliable gun than a reliable one. Almost anything off the shelf at my local gunstore would do just fine.

If I ever "go to war" at my age, it will be because I am taken by surprise and have no other alternative.
As such, I will be armed with the pistol I carry every day.
A 4" steel framed Kimber Pro Eclipse 1911.

I answered this thread with the idea of "what would you take if the military once again allowed personally owned weapons?". That's why I gave a serious answer, my beat-up Argie M1911A1 that still works great and would still likely be quasi-supported in the military supply system. I read many accounts by guys in Vietnam about all the peculiar weapons they either brought with them, or scrounged up while in theater and carried with them as POW's. We can all say that nobody needs a pistol in combat, but the truth is almost every grunt wants one simply as a confidence builder. Good to see some of you guys also gave the question some serious thought, even though we'll probably never see the military allow POW's ever again.

And Gunnut17, don't worry. You may be a teenager but you're probably nearly old enough to be cannon fodder in Uncle Sam's eyes, and he'll be more than happy to give you something better than an airsoft gun to go play with. ;)

Another thing to consider is warranty work while at war. That's why I would pick Glock 17 or Beretta 92FS. They are the best bet because of theres plenty around internationally and they have factories here in the US. If WWIII happens FNH will be the first to go, followed by Springfield Armory, then HK

Of my guns currently owned id take ny sw99 9mm based on capacity and accuracy and haven't had a single failure in 5000+ rounds. My choice otherwise would be a beretta 92fs

What will I take to war

Hi
My first choice will be the same handgun I carried as a Soldier with the CANG during the first Gulf War the so called Desert Storm and again during the Rodney King Los Angeles Riots my Para-Ordenance P-14 in .45 ACP.

Later
YB66

West German P226 my first modern combat pistol, my fantasy carry lol would be my 629-4 Alaskan Backpacker short handy guaranteed to put the hurt and well I'm pretty accurate with it. Like the Marine said though I'd I need the weapon in my holster something has gone terribly wrong!

id take my SW sigma sw9ve. most reliable pistol i have along with the glock17. The only reason i choose the sigma over the glock is the fact the sigma will eat anything including steel ammo. my glock doesnt like steel much

mine would be my XDM9. it's the most accurate, fun, reliable, and rugged gun I own. 19+1 is also hard to beat in a standard combat sized package(please no 33 round glock or 5.7x28 quips).

Don't think they would call up a old 74yr old Navy Gunners Mate that served 6yrs in the 1950's aboard a Destroyer. Today's Destroyers have the Guided Missiles systems and an old Gunny Sailor like me would be lost without the weaponry we had back then.

However, for a sidearm I would ask for a 1911A1.

Haha, come on tahunua, no love for the 5.7??? ;)

Only joking, I don't think we want to turn this thread into that debate.

I agree though, I'd take my XDM with me. I'm perhaps a little more accurate with other guns, but this thing eats anything I put through it, and the capacity is hard to beat. I own one chambered in .40, but I'd probably want one in 9mm if Uncle Sam is providing ammo.

I'd take my Glock 22. Not just my most realiable but I'm also the most accurate with that one.

Has to be my Berreta Model 71. I can't count the 500 boxes of .22 LR I've fired through it. Close second would be a 1911.

Well I dont own one but probably an AR15 or AK47 or a shotgun with no butt stock that the manufacturers sell with short barrels calling them pistols.

As far as something I own probably my Glock 34 or 19 with plenty of Glock only 33 round 9mm magazines.

I'm glad to see Gunnut here. My kids were well into guns by age 15 or so. I think someone under about 16 may be getting young for this forum but it more depends on the person than it does the age. If you share a serious interest in guns and in the shooting sports, then you belong here. btw - I like Gunnuts honest answers on this post. :)
