What's the best "out of the box" semi-automatic pistol you've owned?

What's the best "out of the box" semi-automatic pistol

What's the best "out of the box" semi-automatic pistol?

Best I've ever shot was a Kimber Royal!

1st clip standing 2 hands w/ std 230 FMC ammo:

7 shots all touching at 7 yds!

Yrs later, Accuracy with any factory ammo or reloads is still there

AND the pistol has NEVER had a jam! K-O-W

I've owned many makes and models over the years, but there there are only two autos that meet the criteria:

Browning Hi-Power MkIII in .40S&W. Just a great shooter, and decent CCW.
Makarov. That was a nice little shooter and CCW pistol. Wish I had never sold it.

The best I've owned so far is a FN FNS-9L (9mm longslide).

I was in the market for a Glock 34 after deciding that my old 5906 was too heavy and not accurate enough, but I couldn't find anyone who could fit a cover plate for the G34's ridiculous (to me) hole in the slide, so I started looking at other choices and landed on the FN. It is the most accurate 9mm I've owned, and has yet to have a failure of any kind. I would have preferred the manual-safety variant of the FNS, but unfortunately that isn't available with the longslide 9mm, just the standard length and compact models.

I've never had one that wasn't, but then I buy very few "NIB" guns at all.

The Ruger LC9s I've got fit the bill however. The only thing I've done to the one I carry is add a drop of orange nail polish to the front sight.

My expectations include reliability, accuracy and durability. A good trigger and sights are important for me to be able to make use of most of the accuracy potential.

My most favorite is the Swiss-made SIG P210-4 that I gifted to my son to replace it with a P210-6.

Honorable mention goes to Glocks but I have so many that I only have one that I shot over 40,000 rounds through and most are not completely stock.

Talk about "loaded" questions!!!!

The natural response is to say GLOCK, but these days even that isn't the final answer!
My Glocks (x4) have NEVER failed
My Sig has NEVER failed
My RIA .45 (x4) has NEVER failed
My CZ-75 has NEVER failed
My Beretta Tomcat has NEVER failed
My Walther P-22 has NEVER failed
My S&W M&P .22 pistol has NEVER failed
My Colt Defender .45 ACP has NEVER failed
My XD 9mm has NEVER failed
My Taurus PT-111 has NEVER failed
My Ruger P-85 has NEVER failed
My Colt Govt model has NEVER failed
My Steyr GB has NEVER failed
My FM High Power has NEVER failed
My S&W M39 has NEVER failed
My AMT 10mm NEVER failed
even my puny HP-22A to this point has NEVER failed!

By "never failed" I mean never failed to chamber, fire, eject, and load....

Now, my Kaur P380 (that cost a small fortune) HAS failed, and failed, and failed so clearly it is OFF any list of reliability!

So it's hard to formulate a list of which is better in terms of reliability...

Beretta 92F Italian manufacture. It was my father's gun, then my brother's gun and now my gun.

I don't think that my father or brother ever fired it!

When my brother passed away it became my gun.

I don't believe that any firearm should be a safe queen to be looked at and not fired. I now use the Beretta in competition on a monthly basis and it has fired over three thousand rounds without a single failure of any kind.:)

If I owned one of those P210s, it would reside in a wooden box, lined in cotton wool! I once met a Police Officer in Egypt, he had a Sig 210, in a custom leather holster. When I asked him if his pistol was issued?
He just laid his finger against his nose! End of questions!

Walther P99c QA. Only things I've done to it is add a Talon grip and night sights. Otherwise perfect just as she came.

'62 Browning Nomad, with Medalist trigger, dry-firing pin, and Medalist Safety added.:D

Wish my Auto-Ordnance 1911 was half as nice!

P.S. - It was the best right out of the box, and is really sweet after the parts upgrade (and a bit of sear polishing, just 'cause it's so easy)!:D

I have a Browning Medalist pistol that, of course, has the stock safety. What do you mean by "Medalist Safety added"?

I guess I'm lucky because my last 3 guns (SR9, Sig 2022, Springfield Loaded) have run flawlessly with absolutely no issues.

Although there is a separate part number for the fabled Nomad click plate, every Nomad I've heard of came with a Medalist click plate (which all Challengers seem also to have) and all hammers have the hole for the dry-fire [hammer stop] pin. So..... adding the dry-fire pin and a Medalist safety to any Nomad or Challenger gives them the dry firing feature of the Medalist pistols. A Medalist safety has the catch hook and what you could call a "traversing hole" needed to catch the hammer stop pin.;)

There's a good "Notes on old Browning pistols from Belgium" thread on RFC with some specifics about it.

9x18 Bulgarian Makarov hands down. Took her to the range this weekend and I was astounded at how it put my other guns to shame.
