what was your FIRST handgun?

1917 Colt DA Revolver

My uncle gave me a 1917 Colt Double Action revolver. Its a .45 LC. Its more of a looker than a shooter. Its in great condition and I don't want it to change. I usually shoot it like a SA because the trigger pull is long and heavy.

Heritage rough rider .22 with a 5.5 inch barrel. Great plinker but i ended up with a SA Ultra Compact V10 until it was stolen. :( but i have more 1911s now

My first one, besides the 1911 that I was issued for a short period of time while in the Army, was a Taurus 38 revolver in stainless with a 4 inch barrel. I did not keep it very long and it was many years before I bought another handgun. That next handgun was and still is an XD40. I have 5 pistols and one rifle now; not a big collection but still growing.

My dad's Colt 1903 .32 Automatic (from 1915 if I recall correctly). He's a pharmacist, and would always tote it with him when he would go in to the store late at night to fill an emergency prescription for a patient. (Without benefit of a permit, in Maryland --- GASP!) He taught me to shoot with that pistol; though he is no firearms enthusiast per se, he always emphasized that guns are tools that I needed to be familiar with and know how to handle should the need arise. He allowed me to earn some money and "buy" it from him when I was 12 (though we agreed that he would hang on to it for me until I was a little older :)) I still have it, and though it's a bit beat up with likely zero collector value, it still shoots just fine and never in this world would I willingly part with it. I've sometimes thought about getting it refinished, but every time I look at it, I realize that I like it just the way it is.

My first handgun was a Smith & Wesson model 34-1 i was gifted when i was 18. Man that was a sweet shooter. Was stolen about a year ago:mad::( I would like to get another one some time in my life but they are out of my price range on the used market at the time.

What is your mother's maiden name?

What was your first handgun?:D HK P7M8

First owned handgun

That would be a 1966 alloy framed Walther P38 9mm. Purchased by an assistant scoutmaster for me at a gun show because I wasn't old enough yet. :D

Can't remember the first one I shot, though it was during a desert camping trip again with the scouts....first day shooting in my life was a WWI Luger and a WWII GI 1911A1, let alone the Krag, Springfield 03, and K98 Mauser...what a day!

My first was a S&W 3913 TSW. This was also my only untill I purchased a 22A to shoot armadillos. I found $5.00/box 9mm too much to spend to shoot armadillos.

The Grandpa introduced Ruger Mk III to me when I was a teen tho

First was a s&w 669 that I purchased in 2006 from gander mtn for $275. I carried it faithfully for 2 years and it only let me down once breaking an extractor at a bowling pin match. She now lives a nice retirement in my nightstand and comes out to play when we go to the range.
First pistol I ever shot was my uncles s&w m13 when I was 13. he neglected to tell me he loaded 5 .38 and 1 .357 in it.

Ruger s/a Blackhawk in .357 from pawn/gunshop on the strip in Charleston SC on my 21st birthday. $100 out the door.

It's very interesting to me to read the stories on HOW folks obtained their firsts. Scout Commanders buying their first for them!

Just goes to show how times have changed. My first was an old H&R top-break 38 s&w. I went to a local gun show inside a fire hall and paid the guy at the table $40 and walked out with my new acquisition. I was 14.

I held on to that gun for a few years and then sold it. Should have kept it as it would be more valuable to me for sentimental reasons than it ever would be to anyone else. It spit more than a drunken sailor with a hair lip!
