What is the most overpriced handgun?

Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if all double-barrel shotguns weren't very expensive.

Most of a decent quality from a reputable maker typically have their current MSRPs in the $3000 range - more lab or involved

^^i've seen those. 8 grand isn't bad, they're usually 10 grand lol

kidding of course, that's a complete rip. those are for collectors with more money than brains

Well, I don't buy (excuse the pun) the "it's worth what some one will pay". If a product is priced for the label it has rather than what it can do for you it's over-priced in my book.

I don't do brands for the sake of brand image.

That said, if you want expensive guns (although not handguns) I found this eye-watering site. Put cars and houses where the guns are pictured and then the prices would fit, IMO!!

I won't deny that there is true craftsmanship that goes into these, but still....

Exceedingly expensive shotguns and rifles!!

The home page has a video of how they are made: old school!

I cant believe all the mim bashing. Do you guys realize that out side of performance and high horsepower/torque applications that mim parts are used extensively in automobiles? I sell/deliver truck parts for a living and can tell you Alot of what i send out is almost entirely mim, and this is for 400-600+ hp trucks... (semi trucks that is)

Sure i can find pictures of mim hammers breaking and what not, but things break its normal. My issue is, using mim has allowed some makers to bring the price of 1911's down a little. The cost of a 1911 is just to high, especialy if you want one that is made in america not by commies(armscor/RIA) and that actually is reliable.

For over priced guns i have to vote 1911, especial since to get a good reliable one with features they cost out the arse... Sure the Sa line of pistols is ok, but even they have issues, as i have found out in the past with there 1911's.

Edit to add, It just annoys the ever living hell out of me that if i want 1911 with the features i want, and reliability, i have to spend nearly $3k from the custom makers. Screw 1911's im tired of being teased with there features qualities only to see the sticker of a well made reliable one and realize Ill never be able to afford one.. Screw em....

Hello,

You know you prefaced your question very nice. If your goal is to find the most expensive custom gun, you can probably obtain it by finding a diamond stud Desert Eagle. Lots of surface area and toss on a set of gold grips. I doubt you will find anything less expensive and it'll be CA legal.

Thanks for your help!!

There is NO such thing as over-priced or gouging or similar connotations as long as someone willingly pays the price. Just because YOU might not have the means to afford something doesn't make it overpriced, just expensive
I disagree. A gun is over-priced if it does not represent a value any better than a less-expensive model made by a different company that sells for much less.
Colt for instance, is just a production model. Ruger SC 1911 is a similar production gun. Compare features...The Ruger has just as many. Production costs should be the same (and if the Colt costs more to make, that is an internal problem).
The Ruger has better quality control control. Ask me how I know. The Ruger has better service if anything goes wrong (little has been going wrong with the SC 1911), will fix it even if you are not the original owner (unlike Colt, who only will fix for free if your are original owner).
Therefore, Colt is by definition, over-priced. I should not complain however, they do hire blind people for their final inspection in quality control.

It is all subjective and relative to the individual. Personally, I try and reduce the emotional impact as much as possible and simply look at cost. My general thoughts are to avoid purchasing anything that is enjoying a popularity bubble or a fear induced run-up. Pythons are wonderful guns but could have been had for 100's less just a few years ago. That being said, they could double in price a few years from now. Who knows? It's like asking if gold at $1600 an ounce is a good buy. It all depends on where the price goes. Remember the price of AR's about the time Obama got elected? Lots of people paid a hefty premium because of the fear of not having access to buying them in the future. It may be difficult but a little self control goes a long ways in times like that.

There is quality in things you cant see. Colt's frames and slides are forged, not cast. Ruger cast's everything, thats how they keep costs down. Production costs are more than the sum of the raw matieral; methods, cost of skilled vs unskilled labor, etc
Another value in Colt is the name recognition. Like it or not, Colt will always carry a higher resale value than a comperable production gun.

HKs and Sigs are overpriced when compared to similar pistols.

I will tell you what pistol represents the most value. At under $500, all steel, and as accurate as any gun twice it's price, the CZ 75B gives you a lot for a little.

I bought the CZ P-07 duty and became a a CZ fan. I want the P-01 and a 2075 Rami now. It is hard to find a better dollar for dollar value out there in my opinion. The closest would be the Stoeger Cougar and the SR9c, to me.

As far as over priced. Really a lot of guns are over priced in my opinion.

My dad's Bersa is more comfortable to shoot than his neighbor's Walther PPK. I haven't had a single case of slid bite with the Bersa and it feeds everything reliably. The Walther has ripped my hand and refuses to feed Winchester Ranger T or Remington Golden Sabers. To me that makes the Walther over priced.

I would still love to have a Walther PPK Aristocrat though. That is a beautiful gun. So, I guess only certain ones are over priced.

I will hold out on judging any gun I haven't shot. You never know untill you run one if it is worth the price.

I thought a certain pistol was overpriced, but there is a 90-120 day wait if you order one.
Can it be overpriced if there is a 3-4 month wait? ;)
Not overpriced if it was me selling them.
