What is the most overpriced handgun?

Some of you people are getting hung-up on semantics. Instead of saying "over priced", say: "Undervalued for what you pay compared to other brands." And to that, from my experience with the junk I have gotten from Colt, where even a blind idiot would have detected a problem...

A "willing seller", shipping a faulty product to "an unsuspecting buyer", that costs $200.00 more than a comparable product from Ruger... Now, that is my definition of "over-priced".

A Glock that cost ~$75 to build that retails for ~$600 thats a 800% markup.

After a company has spent millions buying machinery and factories to produce a gun they may well be able to produce each unit for a small sum. The same is true of any other company making guns, toasters , tires or anything else.

You might be surprised at how little it actually costs to make any consumer product. Not just Glock. But the companies have to pay for millions of dollars spent in R&D before the first product comes off the assembly line.

The actual price you pay for a gun has little to do with whether it is overpriced or not. It is what you get for your money and and what it will be worth in the future. Many of the cheap guns function just fine, but 10 years down the road are only worth a fraction of what you paid. Pay $100 more now, buy a better gun, and your investment may well double 10 years down the road.

For my money any pistol made by CZ is overpriced and vastly over-rated.

^^^^agreed, that is a great explantion.

Although I don't agree with the last line, I love my CZ75 and think it was a great value.

Overpriced, IMO.
Colt paying for an iconic name is not as important to me than buying a good product.
HK after all, HK stands for High Kost:D
Desert Eagle, too much money for a brick with a barrel

"Rohrbaugh is pretty expensive. I just don't get that one."

I bought a looks-like-new one 4.5 years ago for $900 including tax. It had been fired 200 times. It's a fairly early gun and has black carbon fiber grips that would bring $200 if I wanted to sell them.

I've carried it everyday since I bought it. That works out to 54.79 cents per day so far. And it's probably still worth at least $900. A new one would be around $1100.

My Dad commented the other day that if cars were priced according to the same formulas as guns are we wouldn't be able to afford one.

I think my P-07 Duty was an awesome value. It was perfect out of the box. It took about four or five cycles to get the mags loosened up enough to hold the 16th round. Other than that it has fired every weight and profile of 9mm I fed it. It holds and points perfectly. It is expected to have a 15,000 round minimum service life with +p. I could go on and on. All for $120 less out the door than the Glock pre-tax price.

I call it an outstanding value.

Handgun $$$

Well .... that was some interesting reading  ... But we must remember, that we all differ in our opinions and the choices we make. I really enjoy handguns as a hobby, and usually purchase a handgun based on reputation, and overall quality. I don't buy inferior products. But, if everyone here had the same brand of firearm ... what would be the point .. :D

over priced guns

I have an old Sig P210 that I paid $2500 for, it is reliable and extremely accurate and a joy to shoot and admire, I could also sell it anyday for $2500 to $3000.

I have Kahr PM40, black slide night sights that I paid over $700 for and put 1500 rounds through it and has been back to Kahr three times still does not work, failure to return to battery, failure to feed, failure to eject, $700 for a piece of junk is certainly overpriced.

I just bought a Kel Tec PF9 for $270 that has the same problems as the Kahr PM40 but has not been back to Kel Tec yet, but if it cannot be fixed $270 is certainly overpriced.

So what was the cheapest and the best bargain of the three handguns,,,the Sig P210 at $2500.
