What if you could only own ONE handgun...

Ever since I started answering this question (in multiple threads on multiple boards over a long time), my answer has always been the same: 4-inch stainless GP-100. And I'm pretty sure that's still my first choice.

However, now that I've started reloading, I might be tempted to switch to a 4- or 5-inch stainless .44, reason being that it has a higher top end for hunting, but can be loaded intermediate for defense and very light for plinking. I'd be happy with a 629 or Redhawk.

Much as I like my semi-autos, if I could only have one handgun, it would have to be a revolver for the versatility.

I've lost track of the rounds I've put through her, but there can only be one.

What would you post if you could only post one time on this forum?

Molon Labe!

But to keep it on topic, today's "one gun" is my G23. It's been getting a lot of carry time in lately...all day, every day.

My Ruger P95 or P90 can’t decide between the two. I know they are cheap and ugly to some but super uber reliable and I love the whole P series.

It would be my 1911 in what else, 45acp. I really liked my blued 5 1/2" New Model Blackhawk in 44mag but its gone now.

I know "end of the world" type questions are against the forum rules and I hope I am not inadvertantly drifting into that, but if only one handgun were allowed, then the social and political landscape in america would have drastically changed. If it changes that much, then we will likely be only a heartbeat away from a total ban on handguns. So the question really becomes, "What handgun would you bury in a sealed PVC container in your backyard?" Since ammunition availability then becomes an issue, and since the last two cartridges left to us for sporting purposes will likely be 12 gauge shotgun shells and .22 rimfires, then I would probably choose to bury a .22 long rifle handgun. Preferably a stainless steel j-frame.

If could keep only one of my handguns, for both carry and home defense, it would have to be my Kimber UCII ... I'd rather keep my 686+, but it's way too heavy for daily carry, while the Kimber is easily as accurate, holds one more round and is far lighter ...

I love all my guns, but of my pistols, my favorites are the Glock 21SF & the Springfield XD-45. I can't really pick one over the other, so I'll have my wife pick which one I should keep.

She can have the other one. :)
