What current production Revolver would you get?

Colt New Frontier in either 45 Colt/45 acp convertible or 44 Special.

4 3/4" barrel, with factory fitted Stag or Ivory.

4" stainless steel Ruger GP100 model KGP-141.
I bought one of those last year. A year later I am still very pleased with it. It likes my plated and lead bullet handloads.

Since I own 2 nice .357s, I think I would buy a stainless Vaquero in .45 Colt/.45acp as a utility gun since I have a carbine in .45 Colt and have lots of .45acp components. Maybe have it tuned and an adjustable front sight installed someday.

The next revolver I want is not in current production

Man, ain't that the story of my life? S&W came so close to making my dreams come true with the 610- but even it's cylinder was too short to ream out to a modern swing-out 6-shot .38-40.

Now if they was to make a run of blue L-frames in .38-40 and .44-40- I would one happy ol' fat man. But then again- they would still put that stoopid hole on the side, wouldn't they? Maybe still just a far away distant dream, huh?

Honestly, a Ruger GP100 with a 4" half lug bbl in stainless to replace my current one that has a 6" bbl with the full underlug.

If Ruger ever were to make that happen again (they used to offer this option) I would snatch one up in a heartbeat as I have been absolutely satisfied with my GP100, but it's just too unbalanced and large to make a good belt or car gun, which is what I want it to do!

Anything that does not have a internal lock.

Agreed, that's why I removed my lock from my V-comp and ALL my Smith and Wesson revolvers. I had the IL engage on my little 340PD once in the middle of firing a cylinder of 125 grain SJHP's. I won't allow that to happen ever again.

As I sit here and look at the May cover of Shooting Times magazine, I keep thinking I really want the new S&W model 69 - a 4" barrel, adj sight, 5-shot, L Frame, .44 Magnum revolver. :D

What a great size and power compromise. The more I think about it the better it sounds. Now if it just didn't have that internal lock. :(

Regards,

Rob

I like Rugers

Since I am a diehard Ruger fan the only thing I can think of that I would like to have is a stainless Vaquero Bisley 5.5" barrel in 45 colt. I think I have most of the rest of them.

S&W is making a couple of "new" revolvers - the 66 and the 69, .357 Mag K frame and .44 Mag L frame. Both are meant for packin and provide a highly desirable package for both Special and Magnum applications.

Tough choice, but I'd probably end up with the M69 .44 Mag first. A most excellent .44 Special by default with the option of Magnums when the need arises.

For a one gun guy, there are only two options in my mind and I'm lucky enough to own both. If concealed carry is considered then a 3" Ruger SP-101 is it, if you plan to shoot a lot and a full sized gun is what you want then a 4" Ruger GP-100 is the answer.

My thoughts as well. The model 69 is my next "must acquire" gun. At long last a DA .44 Magnum that will fit my hand.
