Toughest Man....?

i don't know his actual name, but the guy who played:
- the good guy sniper in Saving Private Ryan
and
- Ned in the most recent rendition of True Grit

that guy is/was real

i believe he carried a couple Colt .45's in True Grit

as a side note, the former was the only good performance and the pinnacle of Vin Diesle's career

all down hill since then as his muscles have been getting bigger and his balls smaller and smaller

Really guys you should study up on some of your history. Lee Marvin was shot in the butt in the battle of Saipan and got the purple heart. He had a SHORT military career. Thats IT. Audie Murphy served a long and distinguished career. He earned the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, 2 Silver Stars, Legion of Merit, 2 Bronze Stars, THREE PURPLE HEARTS, and MORE. Acting like Lee Marvin is this great war hero of the like of Audie Murphy is just ignorance. I suppose next you'll tell me Doug Keeshawn and Mr. Rogers are war heroes too and your still waiting for the African Prince to give you the millions of dollars he promised for sharing you bank account information with him.

Lee Marvin was a great actor and a veteran but lets not paint him as something he wasn't. Audie Murphy was one of the baddest men to walk the earth. Period.

I have to say old Clint in any of the "The Man With No Name" movies. I always thought he was tough as they came.

Toughest gun? Well I have to say his snake handled 1873 Colt and 1851 Colt conversion. Now those were nice guns, and he looked like he knew how to handle them, but Charles Bronson in "Once Upon A Time In The West" looked like he knew his way around a gun too.

And yes I am a very big Sergio Leone fan...Best director ever.

Glenn Dee:

Many may not realize that Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) was a Marine Reservist. Some accounts credit him with combat action and decoration, but he enlisted in 1945 and never saw overseas duty. However, he had to be a tough guy to handle all of those kids. Born 1927, died 2004.

Matt Dillon of Gun Smoke, That 7" Colt 45. Week after week facing the big guy down.

Matt Dillon and that stag gripped Colt gets my vote too. He also was the real deal wounded at Anzio or Sicily. Don't recall which, but it was the reason he walks with a limp.

Matt Dillon

John Wayne was offered the role, but didnt want to do tv so he told em about James a friend of his.

There were other good tv shows had good tough men in them. Rawhide The Rifleman, shows suck today compared to those.

Murphy's awards via wikipedia They must have added a bunch of weight to walk around with:

Purple Heart (with two oak leaf clusters)
Department of the Army Outstanding Civilian Service Award
U.S. Army Good Conduct Medal
Presidential Unit Citation (with oak leaf cluster)
American Campaign Medal
European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (with one silver service star & four bronze service stars, representing nine campaigns, and one bronze arrowhead, representing assault landing at Sicily and Southern France)
World War II Victory Medal
Army of Occupation Medal (with Germany Clasp)
Armed Forces Reserve Medal
French Legion of Honor - Grade of Chevalier

Additionally, Murphy was awarded:[16]

Murphy is the toughest, IMO, but Charles Bronson sure looks the toughest as far as I can tell. He came up tough, too.
