Toughest Man....?

1. Thompson Contender .45-70 in Hard Target (A .45-70 PISTOL?!?!?!)
A bunch of us on here have those. Believe me, NOBODY one-hands it when firing anything but one of those pipsqueak 405 gr loads. Anybody that has one and saw that movie probably said that immediately.

Expanding the list to books, I would have to say CIA agent Mitch Rapp, from Vince Flynn's novels, jumps immediately to mind, though his sometime partner, Navy SEAL Scott Coleman, stacks up to him nicely. Time for some of these to come out in movie form.

McKnight too. got to love something about these kind of guys who actually calm down in situations like these. . . .

on the the typical white, yellow, orange, red alertness scale, i believe that most people's amped up, spiked out red zone, for them, would be a comfortable white to yellowish . . . .

they also seem to typically and maturally be able to sort of quantum leap, if you will, into and out of all of these zones without anyone knowing the better all the while while strictly adhering to ROE. . . .

that, and i hear they can bake a mean loaf of and/or flat bread. . . .

happy watching. . . .

:)

+1 to the poster who had said John Kelly(Clark) from Clancy's novels. Any man who swims into Russia with nothing but a single shot suppressed .22 is a bad ass of the highest order.

Real life, but with movies, would have to be Sergeant York, 2nd Lt Murphy(people talk about how good a Sergeant he was, but only a butter bar would have been dumb enough to do that stunt), and Dorie Miller, I believe he was a Seaman at the time. Manning a weapon in which he wasn't trained. Pretty high speed.

in tune with above post:

Louis L'amour

"Last of the Breed"

Native American pilot shot down in secret military jet above Siberia, put in a prison camp, polevaulting out of the Siberian prison camp, living off the land in dead of winter, avoiding capture, blending in with ethnic Siberians, back to the States, and then back to Russia to knock off the ultra story book Russian bad guy. . entertaining to say the least. .

My original pick John Wayne and Clint Eastwood.
But what about Don Knox as Barney on Mayberry??? He looked pretty tough shaking around and carrying that single bullet that Andy let him pack Hahahaha :D jkg.

Since this thread is still going...

...I'd like to nominate another real-life tough guy from America's armed forces.

We've mentioned Army heroes Alvin York and Audie Murphy (who was turned down by the Marines and the Navy). For a tough guy from the Marines (if that's not already redundant), and besides Chesty Puller, of course, I'd like to nominate Korean War hero Pvt. Hector A. Cafferata, Jr., USMC.

In freezing weather, and without shoes or a coat, Hector Cafferata almost single-handedly fought off an all-night assault by superior numbers of Chinese troops at the Chosin Reservoir. He was wounded but kept on fighting. The gun? The venerable M1 Garand; actually several of them; his more seriously wounded comrades kept loading and handing him fresh ones!

His Medal of Honor citation credits him with killing 15 enemy combatants and wounding many more. But Marines who were there say that in actuality he killed HUNDREDS!

OK, so Hollywood hasn't made a movie about him. But the State of Florida named a school after him (which is pretty good considering he's from New Jersey).
