The Walmart Ammo thread

Around here, Northern VA, the only way to get a box of 380 is to buy a 380. Most of the shops only have a few boxes (if they're lucky) and only sell 'em to folks that buy a gun.
I just picked up a new S&W 686 and they were only selling 357 to gun buyers...and not at a huge mark up. The last time I saw 357's in a shop they wanted $50 for them.

We left two boxes. We bought 8 of 10 :) Just make sure you ask the employee if they know if theyve gotten any ammo in today. If theyre cool they'll try and tell you. He somehow knew there was a case on the truck before it was unloaded. Hes worked there for a while though

I walked into a Wally World in Lafayette, LA to buy something else and just went by to see what they had in ammo. Found five boxes of Blazer Brass 9mm for $8.49 a box. Bought all five boxes. Got lucky!

I went to Walmart the other day looking for .45 and all they had was two cases of Blazer Brass 9mm. Being the nice guy that I am, I left one case for the next guy. Keep in mind however, that I am by no means undersupplied with 9mm (or .45 ACP for that matter).;) $180.00 a case is too good to pass up in this day and age.:)

That ,makes sense. But, you are still hoarding.:D

And to think I used to turn my nose up a BB 9mm. But I did buy 5 box's last week, and if I had $10 more (I had won $50 at video Keno to pay for it, that's the only reason "free money, free ammo"), I would have bought 6. But they were "well stocked"! So I didn't whore'd.

Hellbilly5000:

I found 4 boxes of blazer 9mm the other day at wally world and bought 2 boxes for me and left the other 2 for someone else

Yep, that a boy, way to go!

To H*** with all this ammo hoarding Cr**! I have not been buying any ammo at all this year and will get by till this sick mentality passes by. I suppose some of you rented tanker trucks to fill up when the gas prices dropped to 1.50 too! I got enough ammo to get by if I don't go and shoot off 500 rounds in a session to see how hot my gun can get or something. Yesterday a desperate guy came to my house and I gave him about 12 rounds of 380, which is useless to me, and all I had setting around. I am sick of this stuff. And I am saving money too. Just waiting till the run stops and the prices become sane if not prepanic. Some people don't realise they got you by the ......

Hell Tom, wished you lived close by me. I can't find a single rd of .380 for practice. I do have some PD ammo however for carry.
I've come close to offering a bribe to the Wally World clerk, but I'm afraid he'd accept it...:D

This is a little off topic, but do any of you ever get that weird look from non-gunners when you casually say things like, "I got lucky and picked up 700 rounds today"?

A buddy and I were talking about how ammo was starting to come back into the local sporting good shops. Between us, we estimated we had about 3000 rounds of .22 and 1500 rounds of 9mm (which is enough to keep us in shot for at least two months of target practice).

We then noticed a small audience of fellow office-workers looking at us with wide eyes and open mouths. To them, I'm sure we sounded like we were preparing for the next zombie apocalypse!

I dont like to load 380 because I get my fingers pinched on my Dillor RL1000. I dont shoot it anyway but my grandaughter does, I gave her my PPK. Hopefully I'll find some 380 before Smith sends it back (it was on the recall list), If not my GD is going to make me load it.

maybe they were shocked at your lack of preperation for the zombie apocalypse,My god son you need more ammo:eek::eek::D

Some of us don't live in proximity to a Walmart. We're called city-dwellers. And some of us don't hang out at the loading dock, salivating. We're called normal.

But seriously... All this is going to do is lead to rationing. And that is what "they" want. I don't believe these are normal and not orchestrated shortages. This is probably just a little sociology experiment among the gov't technocrats.

Meanwhile, the gun stores are stock-bare and many of 'em won't survive past this year. You need to move inventory to pay your rent. For those of us who already live in areas where gun shops are few and far between that's a dark prospect.

I won't generally put up for the outlandish prices of ammo these days but if the price is decent I'll still buy. When I buy it is also with several of my shooting compadres in mind. My dad, uncle and cousin are all avid shooters and we pick up what we can for one another. Then I've got about 5 close friends who are really into shooting and we do the same. If we "sell" to one another it is for what we paid for the ammo and nothing more.

That being said I can't say anything negative about those who buy and then resell. That is what makes the world go round. If someone is stupid or desperate enough to pay $35.00 for WWB 9mm then I've got several boxes to sell them. And for all of those on their high horse about making money by reselling ammo, I'm sure most of them sold their used guns for way under market value. Some probably did and some might have given guns to others but the large majority got their money's worth or more. Unless they traded it in at a gun shop. :)

Don't worry my friends President Barack Hussein Obama will soon bailout the firearms indurstry and put a Model 70 in every home with 200 rounds of ammo. All for free!

My point more often than not its the customer that is rude or has no clue.

True. Working with the public can be awful as many of them are rude, self-centered a-holes.

That said, my trips to WM are always before 7am and only last a maximum of 20 minutes. I have a list, get it, and get out before the previously-mentioned "public" arrives. I also have a standing rule of only going there once a month.

Just happened to be in Walmart and for ****s and giggles I go over to the sporting goods and ask about the ammo. The lady behind the counter say I don't know anything but if I want to wait a few minutes she would get the guy who mormally works there. In a few minutes she comes back with the regular guys and I ask him if he has any ammo, his reply what are you looking for? I say 9mm or 380, he says we just got a shipment today and only had 1 box of rem green box 9mm luger and some 40 cal and some 22lr left. So I take the one box of 9 mm and ask him when does he get in his shipments, he says no regular day , when they show up well then its here. He gives me a knowing look and says, look I am a shooter too, we have 4 or 5 guys come in early everyday and buy up as much ammo as they will let them have, and he says I see them at every gun show selling it back to the public at inflated price. Gee thanks alot guys, nothing like sticking it to your peers for a few bucks. Anyway he say they have a 6 box limit with 3 of any one caliber. Will the madness ever end.
