Glock 19 or FN HERSTAL FNS9 would get my votes, great guns with a fair amount of ammo on tap. Would work great as a range/home defence/CC pistol.

Another vote for the Sig p320
I have owned the Glock 17 and Ruger SR9c and shot the M&P as well.
My Sig wins in versatility and trigger quality.

For price, trigger pull, reliability, design features, and parts availability... there are several good ones on the list. You can't go wrong with a Glock or Sig. I personally voted for a CZ75 as it is my personal favorite. Once it's broken in the trigger pull is hard to beat.

I don't vote Glock because I honestly don't care much for striker fired pistols. I honestly prefer a good hammer-fired pistol with an amazing SA trigger pull. Sig closely matches CZ... but I believe CZ is the better value because of price. Glock would be my first choice of striker fired pistol (followed closely by Kahr, because their trigger pull mimics the feel of a revolver IMO), but you probably will never see me carry one unless my Department switches over to them.

Popularity contest of most current quality pistols......useless poll.

Kind of... but who cares? You can always learn something by reading someone else's personal preference. I'm a well-versed gun guy and have had several 1911's, but until the other day I never realized one of their weaker points is the barrel lock-up to the slide, and because of this faster powders a slightly better if you're trying to load on the high end of .45acp. I've confirmed this with several sources who would know, although it is arguable how big a stress difference we're talking. At any rate, the point is you can always learn something if you stop your critique long enough to listen.

What?

No Crvena Zastava M70A? (It's a single-stack pistol based on the Fedor Tokarev design). It's built in Serbia and is a single action pistol chambered for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge.

Good luck.

Taurus 92AF they are solid performers
Glock 34 or 17L again solid performers
Colt Commander in 9mm another solid performer not on the list

Pretty good list for the most part. Best buy with performance (Accuracy, reliability, grip, safety, and trustworthy) as you point out would knock quite a few off the list for me. The Sig 226 would be towards the top and I would only consider it as a best buy if you go used. The PPQ fits pretty well as does the HK VP-9. Some great ones not on the list like the mentioned Sig 320 or 2022. The Beretta PX4, CZ P-07/P09, Walther P-99AS are worth consideration. The Steyr L9-A1/M9-A1 would also be a very good choice for a "Best Buy" model meeting your criteria.

i know everyone loves glocks but I've watched them jam. Even if you want to blame limp wristing if you got shot or stabbed and maybe the only thing you can do is limp wrist you might be screwed. I have to detract from the glock for that reason.

Based on personal preference I chose the CZ 75. That being said I include the P07/09 in that category. I've owned a 75, and own a p09 and regularly shoot a p07. Fine fine pistols. My girlfriend also has a tp9sa. Great pistol. I also enjoy glocks, I just don't happen to shoot them all that great. I prefer my CZs.

I own or have owned about half the guns on your list. While the GLOCK isn’t necessarily my favorite of all it might meet your criteria of, “best performance best buy”.

These polls tend to just show the results of what people already own.
From the ones that I have experience with, I'd have to go with the M&P 9mm. It's pretty hard to beat. It does every thing a Glock does for $100-150 less and with better ergonomics.

I voted cz75 simply because

-It is all steel (durable)
-It was developed as a military side arm and is still used as such
-It is DA/SA and hammer fired, which allows for second strike, and has a nicer trigger than most striker guns
-Known to be accurate and reliable
-CZ has been around a LLLLLONG time and makes quality stuff
-has a very comfortable and ergonomic grip
-is affordable

Now the cz75 isn't my favorite pistol but if I was forced to choose a 9mm from that list, that would be it

Just to throw in my 2 cents I like the M&P 9 for a reliable gun. I got it for a fair price too at the time. I'd probably argue that the G17 is better for me to an extent because I can get it for $399 at blue label for a bit cheaper than anywhere within an hour of me I can get an M&P9. Without the blue label though for me the M&P is about $50 cheaper and I personally feel both are roughly equal value wise. I don't mine the M&P trigger and I hate the glock sights so for my own personal tastes to upgrade either would be roughly the same price in the end. I'd say whatever you can get cheaper. If price wasn't an issue I'd vote for a VP9. I think for a little more money and 2 less rounds in the mag it's a wonderful shooter and has great ergos. The PPQ was just different enough that I'd prefer the M&P9

Which ever pistol you buy, out of the box, requires night sights! So add $100.00 or thereabouts!

TruGlo swap dimmed out sights, for $12.50 each. So, refurbish Glock's for free, then the old $12.50 swap sight's trick. What's not to love!
