9MM POLLS IN CONJUNCTION WITH POST

You might post the MSRP for each. Also, further specificity is needed on some. For example, which (presumably full-size) CZ 75? B Omega, B, BD?

When I read "9mm best performance best buy" I took that to mean best performance for the best price which led me to vote for Glock 17, HK VP9 and Walther PPQ.

The Sig P226 is excellent and I would rather have to rely on it in the worst of situations over any of the three I voted for but it is also around twice the price.

Based on what I have read and heard about the CZ 75 I'm sure it would be up there and possibly be my top vote too but I have little experience with them beyond just handling it. I hope to own one eventually.

i voted glock. XD-M is a very very close second. mostly depends what you plan to use it for. if its more for plinking and not as much defense, XD-M. If its something you plan to bet your life on every day, Glock.

This is not to say that the XD-M is unreliable, or the Glock is innacurate BY ANY MEANS.

EDIT: or the Sig P226....you cannot go wrong with one of these either

And you can tell me why this poll is nothing more than a popularity contest?

Geeeeeeeeez. Lighten up Cheap. The guy is curious and wants to see what bits of useful information might come out of this thread.

Let's face it: Quite a few of your posts are popularity contests for Hi-Points.

Jes' sayin'.

The Glock 19 is IMHO, the most carried defensive pistol in the world.

It is that bit smaller (especially the Gen 4) than the G17, I do carry a G17 magazine as a spare go to mag though.

It is the lightest 16 shot 9mm pistol, and mine has never misfired in any way.

Mind you, it is not good to go, out of the box. Add ones required, TruGlo fiber optic sights. They work in any light (especially in dark/sunlight) the extended slide release from Glock (I know they call it the slide lock lever!) and a butt plug, flush fitting one, helps in mag changes.

Sits on my belt every day.

The one that fits your hand

For my money the above coupled with how it actually holds on target while I shoot it. Also applies to the one I purchased for my wife who's hand is nowhere near as large as mine.

That said, I have shot plenty of different pistols in 9mm. Nothing against most any of them, they were plenty accurate and never missed a lick feeding or firing. Now some of them did not feel right in my hand, and I had to adjust things after each shot to realign the sights on target. Granted practice will eventually alleviate that issue, but how long will that take and what will it do to other pistols I already shoot.

I have shot something 1911 for most of my life so that simply fits and feels good, and I seem to be able to align them right on target shot after shot. Throw a Glock into the mix and while I CAN shoot them very accurately they simply do not feel right, and things do not align for me naturally. Not dissing Glocks but they just do not appeal to me.

I shot several different 9mm pistols before deciding to purchase my P226. I like the way it felt in my hand, and when I raised it the sights seemed to align right where they should. I love the short stroke trigger which gives you immediate recovery fire ability. I also like the uncocking lever as well.

For the wife and her small hands, we simply went "shoe shopping" trying on everything we could get her little hands on. She was the one who liked the P320 Compact hands down because as SHE put it, it fits my hand real nice and it is light enough for me to hold comfortably. I personally have almost two fingers hanging off the bottom of the grip, but it still feels great in my paw as well. I'm not overly wild about striker fire and not here to debate the issues of one over the other. I also like the option to change out frames and calibers within reason for a little less than another whole pistol would run, only not having to deal with the paper work that follows it around.

To be honest there are plenty of "personal" reasons "WHY" one might be more liked than another. The bottom line for me is how well, and how many times you can hit what your aiming at in a hurry. It don't matter one whit which one you have if you can't hit what you need to, when you need too.

And you can tell me why this poll is nothing more than a popularity contest?

What's the harm in that? It's not like we're busy saving the world or anything.

Smith & Wesson's Model 39-2 is still my favorite 9mm. Good shooting gun that fit my hand perfectly, and looks like a million bucks doing it. Blue steel (and aluminum) and walnut.

I've got a Ruger LC9s that I carry and like a lot. Does that count?

I had an XD-9, a couple of Glocks, a SW9VE, a Kel-Tec P-11, a Hi-Point C-9 and probably a few others I don't remember. They all worked just fine.

I just got a RIA, 1911 in 9mm. Will let you know before too long how I like that. So far, so good.

and a butt plug, flush fitting one, helps in mag changes.

Rather than help, I'd say it's really distracting! :D
(Don't ask how I know...)

Puerile humour aside (:o), I'd go for CZ75. I've only had experience of two on the list (sort of): a G19 Gen 3 and an SP-01.

Of the two, the SP-01 came as I want it out of the box, was only slightly more expensive new, fits me better and has never failed to shoot.

The G19 did have some FTF's although I admit this was probably more a combination of the slightly lighter spring that'd been fitted for competitions and hard primers in a particular brand of ammo that I had used.

All of these polls fill up with people complaining about "popularity contest!" or "you didn't include XXXXX"

- If you don't like the poll, don't vote.
- If you don't like the premise of the post, don't reply!

I voted for the Springfield XDM. For me and my budget it was the best feeling, best shooting, best looking (it matters a little), and most reliable for the money.

There are plenty of fantastic weapons in that list and you would likely be well served be any of them, and there are people in this forum that will swear up and down and any of them are amazing!

Not a useless post.

I don't have personal experience with all the pistols on the list, but among the ones that I do, I voted for the 92FS as a good value, thinking of value as quality of design and workmanship relative to price. The Sig is one that I have not shot, sadly, but I hear nothing but good things about it, so it is likely in a similar category.
