Sons of Guns- BS?

I haven't seen much of it, but I haven't been impressed.

I was rather disappointed with the MG42 build.

"Here's the parts kit".
"Ok, finished!"

Will Hayden said on another forum that the show is being extended to 1 Hour episodes next season so they should be able to get into more detail without such heavy editing from the creators.

And that folding MAC survival/flashlight pistol seems so ...lazy. It's also baffling to me that they decided to use a MAC, of all things.

I agree the design they made was really bad. However I believe they used the mac because stuff could be mounted to the top receiver without impeding its function. That and the fact that Macs are cheap and pretty reliable.

However If I was going to do a similar design, I would have made the case drop free, instead of folding out to become a horrible stock.

Just push a button and the case drops free and you are able to grab the mac. It would be faster to bring into action, less awkward and it would benefit from not requiring a form 1 tax stamp (short barrel rifle).

Drama aside, I think it portrays firearms in general, in a poor light.

It reinforces that gun owners, and gun makers are stupid "Bubbas" that are just looking for guns to shoot the most bullets, and/or are military wannabes, IE, the fake bazookas, the Twin M-16s, etc, when, as noted, they are just rebuilding already built, or well established designs, for ratings.

Twin fast firing rifles? How about the bolt in two AK or M1 crank fired kits that floated around years ago? Simple, and no restrictions, and why you would want to base a high speed firing system on a mag fed design, is beyond me, though, reliable drums for the AK are way more available, than ones for the AR.

Bluntly, there really isn't anything that exciting about a gun business anymore, with the exception of perhaps Dillon, and their Mini guns, the way the laws are set up, there can no longer be any real private development of weapons in this country anymore. We will just purchase whatever FN comes up with, developed out of the US, built here, yes, but, with the profits still going overseas.

Its a shame that the BEST we can do, is this poor Jerry Springer'esque show.

Hell, I would rather watch the youtube vids of aussie tourists tossing hand grenades in a pond for 25 bucks a pop in cambodia, or, even better, firing RPG's for 200. At least they are real weapons, and with a plane ticket, I could be doing the same thing.

Hell, one fool dropped the grenade short, and the guide had to grab him and dive over a hill, now, thats stupid, and exciting.

Have you ever seen Orange County Choppers? They give away these incredible fabrications.

Maybe a few of them, the majority of their bikes are commissioned by a company, wanting them for advertisement purposes. They built one a few years back for Speedco, a semi-truck fast oil change chain. Speedco paid for the build of the bike, and had a semi specially painted, with a race car style transporter done in the same paint scheme. They've ran it across the country for the last couple of years, with stops at their locations nationwide and at the various truck shows. At each place they display it, they raise money for "Make-A-Wish."

I'd guess about the only ones built simply to "give away" would be like the one they built to benefit St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.

They built one with a "Caddy-Shack" theme for the Murray Brothers for some charity, Bill & Brian paid for the bike to be built, then when the bike was auctioned off for charity, Bill outbid everyone for the bike. So, he paid for it twice.

Big Paul wasn't able to build that big old building up there just giving stuff away. Little Pauly wasn't able to start his own business giving away stuff either. He's talked on the show this year about the fact they needed to get companies to buy his creations to keep a cash flow in his business.

All you guys who watch because of the "hot" chick should turn to Univision. If all you watch is the girl, there are many more girls on tv who have good hygiene.

Sorry, the daughter just doesn't do it for me. I find her slightly annoying. She reminds me of the kind of girl you would find hanging out in a bus station or a truck stop parking lot. I like the chick from MYTH BUSTERS, she's way hotter. Also, whats up with the ridculas turn around times? Every body says "I need it by Friday" And Will always says OK. They built a MG42 from a parts kit in a week, and a muliti-barrel rock launcher, from scratch, in two! The gunsmith I use takes a month to mount a scope, and thats with me calling him twice a week, and bugging him. I know, I should get a new gunsmith, or learn to do it myself. That being said, I still like the show, and will continue to watch it. Will and his guys seem like good guys.

I have seen a couple of episodes. In 1 of them, they "manufactured" a "missle launcher". which was nothing more than a bunch of water pipes welded together, to shoot common fireworks artillary shells out of. heck, the guy could not even weld, and kept sticking his electrode. It's kinda of like Ted Nugent. It's a bunch of BS, but it is Pro-2nd Ammendment, and it reaches a niche of people that I never can. With that being said, I am not a fan, and wonder how they stay in business.
