Sons of Guns- BS?

BTW, how could someone on a cop's salary afford such a thing?

Because he's not really a cop. He only plays one on T.V....:D

I have a close friend who is filming a pilot series about exotic animals, and the producers are constantly trying to inject their idea of entertainment into the show. It's all staged to elicit more viewers and bigger ratings. "Real" TV is nothing but people acting out potential situations, and very rarely is genuine.

Those clips are far and few in between.

Please remember there is a lot of contracting out to civilian security forces by the State Department as opposed to our own military. Blackwater is a good example.

If you have ever been behind the controls of quad 50's then you would know what they should of been seaking. I am referring to four 50 caliber machine guns on one stand with a central steering wheel, aiming device and single trigger. The four guns are sighted to have the same point of inmact on target. It is awsome and of WWII era. It would make the dual M-16's look like toys.

Of course a mini-gun would of been preferalble to dual M-16's.

It wasnt for the Navy. It was for a bunch of River Rat wannbes. Ya know Having fun down by the river?
Thats the point. They said several times that the guy was U.S. Navy Spec Ops! They implied that they were hoping to get a govenment contract. And implied that the live fire was done on a military base! I think thats BS. I think it was for a bunch of wannabes who like to dress up and play apocalypse now. I'm sure they let that one guy be the LT because he owned the Rivine Patrol Boat (AKA Boston Whaler, painted Gray). And what they did with that Thompson was just wrong. i don't care if it was a Repo.

The only thing that could make this fine show any better or more realistic is if all the employees, at the beginning of each episode, tumble out of a Nash Metropolitan wearing floppy rubber shoes, greasepaint and red sponge noses.

They exceeded even my low expectations with that stupid box "survival gun" with a bunch of sh** piled inside. Who in this world would buy such a ridiculous "weapon"?

Then they had the balls to say the "box gun" was their idea, when it's a total and complete rip-off of the Magpul FMG-9...

What a joke...

Have you ever seen Orange County Choppers? They give away these incredible fabrications

A business associate friend of mine had Senior over to his company to discuss some sort of involvement in the show. According to him Senior said someone wanting a bike built on the show had to drop around $500K for the privilege. I'm sure there are variations on that theme both higher and lower, but dang.

I like the daughter, she reminds me of my granddaughter the way she give's her father crap.

By the way, Red Jacket is a light outfit, dealing in Class III weapons. They must be doing something right, try to buy something and check their back log.

You have to remember, this like all other reality type shows is FOR ENTERTAINMENT ONLY.

If you had a granddaughter like mine you would find it entertaining that someother poor smuck had to go through what you go through.

Just for grins, as I design and build guns from time to time. I watched the first epsiode ever, the one with the dual m16s. Which can serve a purpose. Cheaper than a crew serve weapon like the 60 or SAW, plus it can be dismounted easier. I understand that. But why the hell would you water cool the guns, when they could of came up with an open bolt design which would have cooled the weapons and added no extra parts. It seemed like over kill to just make some movie magic.
Just my two cents.

The guns still would have run cooler water cooled even if they fired from an open bolt. The open bolt would only prevent cook-offs and would have done little to cool the gun during sustained fire. Given the M16 barrels aren't quick change, water cooling them is more practical for extended firing... Or just making an ACR type quick change barrel system and use heavy barrels.

They wouldn't have to design an open bolt M16, Colt already did it and called it the LMG. The parts and uppers are available. My C3 dealer had one and I had the chance to fire it.

We have a winner folks!

The show is for entertainment not education.

Bear in mind, Redjacket has something like 16 employees. You only ever see 3 of them.

Alot of the dumb crap you see go in the shop is fabricated. The people at Discovery are making a TV show for all the mouth breathing idiots out there in TV land. Will and his crew are the characters in that show. There is very little that is real in reality TV.

Will looks like an ass on TV and gets a check from Discovery and increased sales at his shop. Man that's rough. 15 minutes of fame, as it were.

^^:D

I think its a great show. Not realistic or educational, but great entertainment. Personally, I'm jealous!! Nobody's paying me to shoot full auto guns and act like a jackass .

Watched it a few times, but got boring real fast.

Just ask yourself. If you had 5K for a once in a lifetime custom 1911 build, would you want these guys to do it ?

The gal ain't too bad of a looker.

Hey, they found an angle, people watch the show
and they're no doubt making money.
I certainly wouldn't turn that down

I'm not a mouth breather!

I do like the show, if for no reason than to try to find ways to pick it apart :D

Like the most recent one, where they build a Nazi MG42 back up from a seriously dematerialized pile of parts. The scenes when they first introduce the MG42 were all of an MG34 being fired, not a '42.

On another thread it has been stated that there is going to be a second season and that Will is going to have a bigger hand in the story line etc. So it may be a slightly more realistic show.

Maybe we should make a list of guns we would like them to build. With subcategories of AK-47 based, AR-15 based, etc

How about a bayonet that goes on the lamp rails of a modern auto-pistol? Oh, wait, that's been done. So it is probably something they are working on right now :p

Who now heads to the website to look for Red Jacket coffee mugs.

as for the dual m16 set up I would have used right and left handed models so the fired brass would eject to the outside of both guns, such a simple oversite for a pro.
