Smith and Wesson serial number search

S&W Model 60-13 info

Wondering if anyone knows about the S&W model 60-13 .38 Special. My serial prefix, CCB, isn't listed in the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson," but I'm guessing that it was manufactured in late '97.

Was the 60-13 the first J Magnum framed .38 Special?

Can you help identify the date from my Model 36?
J197856 = 1974.

CCB would fall between CBN and CCD in the SCSW so 97 is correct.
60-11 was first in 38. 60-13 was target sighted 38.

Jim

Edit: Well, after going back and rereading now I'm not sure if it was 60-11 or 60-13 on the "magnum" frame.

Hello everyone. I see that I am one of many that only own one of these guns. It was willed to me by my grandfather, and I am curious as to the age. I went to the firing range today with it and the guy behind the desk seemed real intrigued by it. It is a S&W 38 serial number 6k92xxx

Would you date these?

I have four of these Smiths that I would like to know the date on:

65-4 #bjj7225
65-5 #cau-5105
65-5 #cbp-2236
60-9 #ccw-5751

The top two are ex NCDOC revolvers.
Thanks in advance.

Can someone tell me anything about a my model 36 two inch barreled revolver serial number 781038? it has a pin in the barrel area as opposed to a screw.

Thanks

How about a 64-3 with serial B16 072XX?
Get the serial number from the bottom of the grip butt. There will be a "K" in it.

1968. The pinned barrel ended in 1982. They don't use screws. The barrels are screwed in tight.

I have a Model 10-5 with the diamond grips, 4" barrel, serial # C6307XX. I'm guesstimating mid-late 60's.

Close, 1963.

Serial numbers started at 1 in 1917 thru 54474 in 1940. So yours would probably be in the first couple years of production.
