Not sure why the 3D's were left out. The book also states that 10-5's ran from 1962 to 1977. So... 77/78.The serial number is 3D2XXX.
Would need the date code off the original box to give you an exact year. Otherwise, looks like 1990.Ser # BFR08**

Assuming there is no "J" prefix with that serial number, serial numbers ran from 295000 in 1962 to 786544 in 1969. The SCSW shows the first year of the 36-1 as 1967 so that would be the likely year of production.Model 36-1 .38 Special SW with #4573xx
The N2xxxxx range ran from 1974 to 1977. My guess would be closer to 1974.s&w highway patrolman 28-2 s/n N201xxx.
