Smith and Wesson serial number search

What exactly do I have here?

I think it's a 1920's Model 1905, Series 4 hand eject in 32WCF (32-20)

S/N 1078xx It also has 34247 on the crane. (Is that the right word?)

Thank you in advance.

You're right on the model.
Serial numbers ran from 65701 in 1915 to 144684 in 1940. So, 1920's is a safe bet.
Other makers call it the crane, S&W calls it the yoke.

Thank you Jim. On most S&W wheel guns I've seen the model number is stamped on the yoke. Any idea what that number means?

I found a post on an S&W forum a few minutes ago that mentioned a fellow having a 1923 built one of these with a serial in the 116xxx range. He claimed his barrel was stamped with 32-20 and IIRC S&W made the nomenclature change about then. So I am ASSuming this is pre-1923.

Saw it sitting in a pawn shop today. Looked so nice for a nearly 100 year old I had to have it.

Prolly paid too much, but, Feh. It's only money.

Any idea what frame this is? Wikipoodia says it is a variant of the model 10 which would make it a K?

Yes, it's a K frame.
The SCSW does not get that in depth on that model so I would defer to what you read on the S&W forum.
The other number is an assembly number.

I recently inherited a S&W .32 Long ctg 6 shot revolver and would like to find out a little more about it. It is stainless with a pearl handle, S/N 2457** Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

S/N 2457**
32 Hand Ejector 5th Change.
Serial numbers ran from 102501 in 1910 to 263000 in 1917.
S&W did not start making stainless steel guns till 50 years later so it's either nickel (shiny like chrome) or it's been refinished to look like stainless steel.

Jim

Some folks don't like the world knowing the serial number of their guns.

Jim

Why is that ? It does not bother me, I cannot see what anyone could do with the information, except maybe identify it as a stolen gun.

Thanks very much Jim! Excuse my ignorance on the stainless comment, it is nickel. Do you know if the pearl would be real, and any approximate value of this model?

S&W Revolvers

New to this, but I have two S&W revolvers that I'm trying to figure out what the model numbers are to get a price for them out of a blue book.

One is a .32 Long CTG, 6 shot, Fluted Cylinder, 4" barrel, serial # C 291**

The second is a .38 special airweight hammerless snub nose, serial # 754**

Any help would be really appreciated!

Without seeing the grips I couldn't tell you.
Value can range from $300 in good to $600 or so in excellent.

32 long. C291xx = It's a 32 Military & Police. It's built on the K frame and only 4813 were made between 1948 to 1950. Yours would be 48/49.
Value ranges from $1K in good to over $2K in excellent.
754xx = 1955/56. It's a 38 Chiefs Special Airweight (pre model 37)
$300 to $600+

Jim

Since others are asking, what, approximately, would my Model 1905 be worth?
The problem with giving gun values is the market is crazy right now and I have no idea what condition your gun is in, what the finish looks like, etc. The best I can do on older guns is give a range of values which may or may not be valid anymore.
That said, around $300 in good to $800+ in excellent.

Model 49 388J35 nickel
1971/72.
