S&W Issues Recall for Walther PPK/PPKs Models

PPK

Bignz,

When did your PPK arrive at the factory? Mine was signed for on March 31st. This is getting depressing. On the other hand, I'd hate to be responsible for 13,000 PPK's in the warehouse that belonged to other people.
I'd be happy if it got back in the stable in 4 weeks.

I can't find the received email for S&W but i got my return label on 3/26 and i sent it back on 3/30. So figure 4/2 for receipt.

UPS receipt on 3/30, made it into the processing line on 4/3, got the same 2-4 wks email. Judging by the posts on this board, I don't think it will take that long. I am convinced they (the people doing the email replies, and answering the phone) don't really have timely information. I think it should show up any day now.
BTW, I gave them a link to this very thread, to let them know what we're saying about them. No comment from them. (no idea if they even looked at the link)
Hopefully, we'll all be able to put this thread in the historical file in a month or so!

Time Line

I got my prepaid label on 03/26, shipped it the same day, arrived at the factory and was signed for on 03/30. No e-mail from S&W about progress or anything.

Another post I found elsewhere.
Looks like people who sent them in in April are starting to get them back...

posted on June 4

Sent mine in the first week of April. UPS guy just dropped it off here about 5 minutes ago (June 4).

So...about a 2 month turn around for me. Glad it's back home!

PPK/s

I'm into the 10th week, maybe soon. i bought a new Sig P238 today to keep me company until it arrives.

Glad to hear your good news. But so much for first-in, first-out, and "the order in which they were received." Mine was receipted for in March, made the processing line the day you mailed yours, and has still not come back. All I hear is stories, platitudes and party lines, with the always-present "two to four more weeks."

I remember that ours were received same day Marty. I don't think S&W has a clue as to what they are doing judging by all the differing info they have been giving out. I sent them a email last week complaigning about the service and conflicting information and got a response yestrerday asking me for my serial number so they could check on the progress. I'll see what reply I get.:mad:

I recieved an email reply to inquiry I made a week ago about mine. I don't think they really know what they are doing. They said mine was received on April 3 when UPS records show it arrived and signed for on March 30. They now tell me 1 to 3 more weeks.

Confused

Tleo,

I'm confused. You say yours arrived on April 3rd according to the Fedex, but signed for on March 30th. Was it shipped on March 30th?

TLeo is correct. There are two S/W dates. The first, from UPS, shows the date it was received at the dock. The second date (Apr 3 for both of us) is the date the recall people logged it in. TLeo, I got the same email request for ser number, and the same reply you got. You're right, the people answering the calls/emails don't have a good handle on what's going on. Now we see pistols sent AFTER ours arrived are already being returned. Not much more we can do now, except sit and wait. If it gets to be another week or so, I'll really get hot. I'll let you all know right away when it shows up. You would think S/W would at least have the courtesy to send an email with UPS tracking number so we would know when to expect it. Sometimes having an adult around at a given time to sign for it could be an issue.

Another story to add to the long list that fall under the "do they know what they are doing" list.

- I emailed them 3 weeks ago for a progress report.
- I re-emailed them the beginning of last week asking them to please respond to me.
- A day later they returned my email saying 1-2 weeks.
- Today, unprovoked, they send me another email saying 1-2 weeks.

Punch mark

I'm anxious to see the punch mark. I hope it's unique to S&W and the repair. If it's something you can buy in a hardware store, I'm afraid there will be a lot of non returned pistols showing up on the market with a punch mark.

Just got mine back today via UPS. Shipped it Mar 26, S&W rec'd it Mar 31. I have it back today.

Paperwork says:

Repaired: Polish ramp of bbl.
Repaired: Repair decock lever sys.

Nice of them to polish the ramp too.

Should be imminent

Shipped mine off March 27 and S&W received it on March 31 (signed for by "Soucey") so I wait anxiously out here in California...I am going to guess it might arrive as early as Wednesday, if mine was received alongside Jeff's ("Theojt") PPK back at S&W, and also based on if Jeff is back on east coast (per another post).

:)

PPK/s

I'm anxious. I shipped mine on 3/26, signed for at the factory on 3/30. I'll break out into a sweat everytime Big Brown comes up the street.

The two dates confused me a bit at first also until I realized what the second date was.. Still, S&W has not handled this problem well at all with all the misleading, and /or different information they give out and it would be nice to get a notice it was on the way.
I thought I got lucky a few minutes ago when the UPS truck pulled up....but they were just delivering a set of pistol night sights I ordered last week from Trijicon. Maybe later this week some of us will have some god news to share:confused:
