Road Trip Carry Gun? What's yours?

CETME with a few clips....
Maybe the Saiga in .308 16" W/kobra site, now that I can get 20rd mags....

Who knows maybe a squirrel will take a chance and try to run into my car!

Damm rats in Sunday Church clothes...can't take yer eye off them!

Just Kidding....

We all have our favorites...and that's what I'll have..

If Im bringing my bicycle with me, its the S&W Airweight. Otherwise, I typically carry full-sized pieces like my 4003 or 6906.

It depends on which way I'm going and how long I'll be there. I usually conceal carry a Glock 27 when I travel through Georgia. When I cross over into North Carolina I will sometimes add a Judge loaded with 410 buckshot or #4 for pests, snakes wild dogs & the like. Sometimes I carry my Glock 21sf instead. When I go camping with the family I usually just park my TCP in my front pocket & leave the larger guns in the camper locked up.

But when I cross the river to go see my parents in S.C. I leave those behind and stick a Taurus pt111 mil pro or my Sigma 40ve in the glove box. They are 100% reliable and small enough to fit in the box with extra mags. They are also cheap enough that in the event that they are stolen or confiscated by the authorities that I won't lose my normal carry gun. Because I can't carry a gun on my person in South Carolina, they are left in the glove box way too long. I wouldn't leave a better gun like that. With the pt111 or Sigma I still get the reliability (3000+ without an ftf) of my Glock, in a cheaper gun.

A roadtrip means three firearms for myself and my family: 2 snubby revolvers & a derringer(my wife can carry concealed too). The least amount on person would be one snubby in my pocket, but I would probably have the derringer as a BUG too(my wife doesn't carry much yet but I always am prepared).

My EDC, of course, Kimber UCDP, .45 ACP in a Don Hume JIT slide @ 3:30 or so. Doesn't get in the way of seatbelts and I can still draw easily if need be. P32 is ever-present BUG as well. Depending on where I'm going, like my northern property, I'll change when there to a Glock 29.

Just did the 10 day spring break road trip.....

Glock 19 with Surefire X300 with a DG switch carried in a Kaluban Cloak IWB holster, spare mag and 6PX Surefire in a Comp Tac combo holster. Had the BCM 14.5" M4 and magazines in the back.

I haven't had the occasion to travel anywhere by car since I got my permit, so this is just conjecture on my part.

It would depend on the laws of the states through which we were traveling, of course, as to whether we'd carry at all. Luckily our state has reciprocity agreements with a large number of other states so our permits are good most places that allow carry.

So, hypothetically it would probably be my Glock 26 with a couple of spare mags, and my wife would take her trusty S&W Mod. 66 2 1/2" with a couple of speedloaders and a couple of speed strips. I've got +1 or +2 grip extenders on the mags so it's *almost* as comfy to shoot as a G 19.

We have other options but those seem like the most likely.

Road gun

Ruger SP101 .357, 2 inch ported barrel. Concealable, dependable, I can hit with it inside self defense range and it makes a big hole.

This my EDC gun which makes all my road trips. The only exceptions are if I go into the desert or into a jungle and then I take one of my H & K's.

Nice kimber stevie-ray. How many rounds will it hold? them grips are very nice.
Thanks, Mark. It'll hold eight, but I leave it at seven so I don't have to have a loose round rattling around my pocket at gun shows. The grips were a must for me as they made up for the lack of an arched MSH, something I prefer due to the size of my hands. I didn't really have problems shooting it first, but now is even better.;)
