I don't mind giving people some leeway. But this thread has a good deal of solemn historical relevance. I associate threads like this with my own extremely vivid recollections of that morning - it pisses me off to no end to have it polluted with such brain dead nonsense.
 
It's funny that the WTC Conspiracy nuts sound exactly like the Holocaust deniers on the other end of the political spectrum.

Even though Germany perpetrated the Holocaust...even though they admitted to it....even though they kept meticulous records, right down to the names of the dead, the inventories of their personal belongings,and warehouses full of glasses and dental prosthetics...even though there are umpteen zillion eyewitness accounts from survivors...

"The ovens weren't big enough to kill that many people!"

"The death camp liberation videos were faked by the Allies!"

"Zyklon B isn't even powerful enough to kill bugs!"

Blah...blah...blah.

In rejection of the facts, no evidence is good enough. In defense of the conspiracy theory, any evidence will do. Debating these people is pointless, because they've honed the art of selective reasoning...only the points that support their position are considered as valid candidates for the truth, the ones that contradict their beliefs are discarded.

Be careful how you calibrate your reasoning faculties, lest you end up exactly like the people you despise the most.

i apologize if this has already been said ...

only conspiracy i see here is that the government is either incapable or unwilling to protect us ordinary folk.

Imagine my surprise to see this histroical thread, once again active. I reread all that was posted... Relived all those terrible emotions from that day, just to see what had caused this thread to live once again.

Regardless of the reasons, the one thing that struck me? The early reports linking Bin Ladin with Hussein. Something that was lost in the buildup to the Iraqi War...

Things that make me go, hmmmmmm.......

I second that emotion. I once read this thread while working the night shift and it brought me back to that morning, what I saw on TV, how we reacted on Fort Hood, and it brought tears to my eyes. Now wasteland has polluted this thread when he could have simply started another and left this as a memorial to that morning. Mods, I beg you, break off these responses and start a new thread, then lock the WTC attack thread. It is a piece of history and should be treated as such.
 
What part of "We will not forget" is so hard to understand?

Be sure that those of us who witnessed this, sitting with our friends at work or alone at home, will not forget who did this cowardly, soulless, evil, bestial, inhuman act. Nor will we forget those who revelled in the aftermath. In good time, the books will be balanced.

44 months? Justice can be delivered anytime, anywhere, and does not adhere to a schedule.

Plus 2. I would like to see my post deleted from this thread as long as all posts that were added after 9/13/2001 are as well. This is a part of our lives where every American was together in our grief and was nonpartisan in any way. Wasteland ruined this record of our history with his inconsiderate, improper and partisan post. It is a type of social vandalism. Even if I agreed with him (which I definitely don't) I would think this very wrong to post that opinion here because it would be like protesting in a graveyard by spray painting political slogans on tombstones. :mad:

That sounds good at this instant in time, maybe, but the people who want to pretend it never happened or that the Infinite Hexamon secretly perpetrated the attack somehow are part of that history now, too, no matter how much you might wish otherwise.

Germany has to deal with her neo-Nazis, and we have to deal with these people. I hope we don't choose the Canadian/French/German model of censorship to do it. ("We" in that sentence is America, NOT The Firing Line. TFL censors profane and off-topic stuff all the time; I just don't want to vote in favor of censoring opinions, even if this particular opinion might strike some of us as profane.)

If there were no one out there arguing that the whole thing was a hoax or a plot of the Sith, I would be a lot less confident in my own conclusions.
 
I've re-read this thread too and it's been a wake-up for me also.

Nothing in it has been desecrated; this one outlandish post only regrounds the history and emotion in a very special way. Let it go...rise above today as we did then....and NEVER FORGET.
